need help with o2 sensor

I installed a racing header on my 00 cavy over the summer and had to relocate my o2 sensor. The sensor is now about 6 - 12" from its original location. Does anyone know if there is an adapter for the wiring harness or know of a way to lengthen the factory harness?

Are you referring to the first O2 sensor, or the second sensor in the converter? Also, please be specific about which header you have exactly.

You CAN cut the wires to the sensor and splice in an appropriate length of wire, but you're playing a dangerous game if you do that. Different wires may have different resistance than the original wires in the sonsor, and may weaken or disrupt the power/voltage going to your computer, causing inaccurate and unstable readings from that sensor.

Perhaps if you could elaborate more on which header you have, which sensor you're referring to, and why your sensor had to be moved so far...

I have the OBX racing header for the 2200 series engine, and it is the first o2 sensor that had to be relocated. It had to be moved so far because the port in the exhaust line on my new header was farther from the wiring harness than the factory one.

I asked this same question last week. Couple of weeks ago I installed my OBX on my 2200, I cut and lengthened the wire. Doing some research which I should have done before the install, I found out that lengthening it is a bad idea (stupid me). Anyways, I was adised to cut open the wire loom that the o2 wire, along with all the other wires run through, and re-route the o2 wire. The loom is huge, you cant miss it. Sure enough, when you re-route the wire under the car instead of to the exhaust manifold(where it ran before, there is more than enough wire to make it to the new location.

Just be VERY carefull when re-routing the wire, there are alot of wires in that loom

o2 relocate

Good Luck!!!
