Just noticed my VIS Carbon Fiber Invader style hood is officially a victim of sun damage. Being that it's only it's second summer season, i was kind of shocked. I thought I'd share this with you guys as i await a response from Vis about the quality.
In the meantime, has anyone had any experience with this type of fading? As you can see, there's no yellowing, just a white haze showing up on over a dozen spots on the hood.

looks normal to me if its not been clear coated. Im assuming you didnt get it sprayed with clear as well once you got it?

nope.. .wet sand and then clear. oxidation is your enemy
It comes with a gel coat on it is all which cant take the UV rays from the sun. Like he said, wet sand, re-clear.
Any carbon hood will do this if not cleared. Has nothing to do with quality of VIS's product...any and all epoxy resin will yellow from UV if not cleared.

Guess I didn't do my homework. Lesson learned.
biggest thing you need to find out is if it is on the top of the gel coat or between the weave and gel coat. I know my friend chris' erebuni the haze was under the gel coat so when I recleared only about 80% of the haze went away.. I ended up mixing some black in my clear and tinted the haze and made it a little less noticeable. Basically I would start by buffing it and see if it all goes away.. If it does have it cleared before it gets worse. First thing i did when I bought my new cf hood was put 4 coats of clear coat on it and wet-sanded it flat and buffed.. soo nice

if you keep a new one regularly waxed it takes a hell of a long longer to start looking bad...
I have a VIS oem style hood on my cavalier and never knew that it had to be wetsanded and clear coated?? no were does vis tell u this, well thankfully mine has been chillin in the garage with the cover on for the most part I would be pissed as hell bro if that happened to my hood. well atleast now I know I will have to get it clearcoated soon. I guess u would think for almost 600 bones the hood would come clearcoated geez. How much u guys think it will cost me to have it done?? at a decent place not any macco crap!

You do realize that materials are not cheap and labor isn't free? $600 is not even close to a bad price haha

I have over 30,000 wrapped in my car and half the car is carbon fiber hahaha so dont @!#$in patronize me u think I dont know that carbon fiber is expensive!? spoiler trunk lid apr mirrors and canards as well as all my other carbon fiber goods didnt have to be clearcoated all I'm saying is it should come clear coated to begin with charge an extra 100 bones for the hood then. what a chach bag

even though im helping you.... quit being a prick to everyone.... I dont care if half your car is carbon fiber or made of unicorn horn.... quit being a prick and flipping on everyone. I dont care if you have $30K into your car.... lets line them up and do a round robin, car show, auto x and drag, road course.... 30K doesnt mean @!#$ if you cant use it.
