i was just wondering....
for a little while now i wanted to do something custom with my back lights. now i know people in the past have changed their reverse lights into turn signals, but i dont want to loose my reverse light functions.
so here is what i have been contimplating for a little while now.
i want to make the part of the lens above the reverse lamp, that currently does nothing, do something. in the picture it is highlighted in black. i want to make that area a brake light or maybe even a brake light / turn signal, depending on where i tap the power off of.
any comments, suggestions, or help?

it would be pretty simple to make it a brake light. just drill a hole, and tap a new socket off the current socket.
making it a turn signal could be confusing for other drivers, but can also be simply done the same way.
there was a write up a long time ago (i wanna say 3 1/2 years ago) on how to make that part of the light into a brake/turn signal. sorry i cant help produce the thread but there is one w/ a how to. hopefully some of the other older members can help w/ it
so it has been done before? thats good to know.
i was thinking about getting the back part of it fiberglassed with a housing and that, but i think thats just me making more work for myself.
i'll do some more searching and see what comes up, thanks guys.

well i went to a local yard today and picked up 2 sockets, 2 bulbs (1x 3057 and 1x 3157 (3157 was replacement for 3057 at autopart stores)), and i also got part of the wiring hirness so i can splice and solder in.
anyone find the old posts that were mentions about doing this setup, because i havent found anything from searching. i mean i can rig it up to work, but im looking for a professional looking, polished look ion the end, rather than a crude temp rig.

its not hard.. i figured 3157 pigtails would be to big.. i would wanna use 1 maybe 2 194 pigtails in each one.. easy to wire em in too.. just tap the power wire from the 194 connecter and split it off on the brown and green(or yellow depending on driver or pass side) and the just splice the black to the black on the pigtail for ur tails.. simple..ull just need to feed the wires down the loom with the reverse light wires then go to the tails that way. also.. the 194s are to small of a bulb to effect blink speed so if they go out u wont know it.. but if u want u can buy some red 5WLED led bulbs and that way ull have nice bright light, wont have to worry about them going out either..

yeah i remember that. i had it bookmarked on my old hard drive. looking for it now....
but just so you know...it used the 00-02 tails

ya i was debating on using the 194s or something. i thought the 3157s would be ok though. what i might do is get the housing from the reverse lights off a sunfire and attach that. the housings from those sunfires with the inner reverse lights on the trunk lid were a small housing. might go back to the yard today.
