Hey; i have a 98 sunfire sedan; so you know i have the ugly trunk with the plastic bezel across the back.
I want to get a cavy trunk lid and possibally have the inner tails shaved because i have a sunfire sedan where the reverse lights are in the bumper so i dont need the cavy inners.
I was hopeing someone can post pictures of their shaved lid with no inners; just want to see what it looks like.
And also; anyone have pics of a cavy trunk lid without the tails in, but not shaved; just wondering what a stock cavy lid looks like when the tails are removed.
So if i did get a cavy lid for my sunfire sedan; i would use my current trunk lock and the arms and all that; everything would hook right up to a cavy lid the same way as my fire lid.???????????
And when you get a brand new lid from a parts place(oem lid) are they the same as a orginal lid from the dealer; or are they made cheaper or anything?

and yes with ur new trunk just swap over the lock cylinder latch and soloniod(sp) and feed ur wiring back in.. simple stuff
So... What'd you do for back up lights? Looks cool, probably look cooler after it's painted, but no back- ups?
heres mine, well the way it was, i went back to one with iners b/c of the reverse lights. it looks cool but i just couldnt deal without the lights

For me back ups is easy; i have a sunfire sedan, reverse lights are in the rear bumper.
Hey MANTA Z,,,,,, did you shave your oem trunk lid, or is that a aftermarket fiberglass lid?
Yeah the cavy lid without the inner tails would look like my sunfire lid without the bezel; except my sunfire lid without the bezel will have holes through my trunk lid running across the lid; the bezel is held on by plastic clips and such that go directly through the lid i believe, therefore if i were to use my lid i have now; i would have to have the holes filled and my wing holes filled(i have a huge aluminum wing) so i figured it would be easier to buy a cavy lid.........
so switch over, lock cylinder, latch and solonoid, cool, thanks very much guys.

Anyone have pics they can post of there trunl lid without any wings/spoilers but with inners and outers.
Thanks; i like the look without inners; but not sure how much work is involved and money to have a body shop shave the inners; and i want cf aftermarket tails as well, might have to buy a set and use just the outers if i have the inners shaved; i have a set of clear tyc outers right now.

How do you open the trunk if the key hole is shaved as well; just from inside with the lever by the drivers seat??????
is there a way to open the trunk if you lever inside broke or the cable snapped and you had a shaved key hole??????

why dont you just search the members section.
i dont have any inner tails, key lock or spoiler on my lid. to get in the trunk i just pop the latch inside the car.
^^ same here.. or push the button on my handy lil keyless entry remote
if the lever fails and u dont have a remote.. jsut crawl through the backseat and unbolt the latch from the trunk.. then the trunk will go up but ur latch will remained latched but atleast u could get into ur trunk or w/e if u really needed too.
as for reverse lights i didnt have them but i got pulled over for em so i went back to stock trunk.. but next spring ill go back to fully shaved.. with no inners.. i didnt get a fine just needed to go to the police station one day and show them i fixed having no reverse lights.. no biggie, had the trunk one for almost a year.. and it only happened cuz i was backing up infront of a group of cops and one noticed and stopped me about it.. should be fine..
and yes i shaved a OEM metal trunklid.. but i now have a shaved carbon fiber one..

I AM STILL ON THE fence on weather to get a cf lid, or get a metal cavy lid, shave the inners and have it paintted; not sure what will be the cheaper route to take.
Cf lid will cost me around $900 canadain.
If i buy a metal lid that will be probaly what $200; have a shop work on it and shave it, paint it, probaly up to 6-7 hundread; so i dont know; i do know i want cf cvay outers.
Anyone have a pic of the vis cavy carbon lid on therre car, i want to see a pic of the catual lid on a cavy; i know what it looks like in a pic from vis; but i want to know if its good quality, fitment, etc.....
