Has anyone installed a set of these?
Sunday, November 12, 2006 9:07 PM
All right, last week a bonehead friend of mine decided to wipe my projector headlight down with reducer, well anyone who paints knows where that went, so being in the market for a new set, I naturally jumped on ebay, and did a search. I found a newer style projector, with halo's and the corners built into the main housing, I'm posting the link at the bottom. Anyway, these look BAD ASS, but I have already molded my front bumper in, contouring it perfectly to the factory style corners. In the picture, these look like theyre not as long or pointy, or something, I don't know, they just don't look like they would fit right. I really don't feel like making more work for myself, so I was hoping that someone on her had already bought a set of these, and installed them. Maybe could even post a pic or two of the installed product so that I could see the fit.

Thanks

Well, if you ask me..heres my .02 cents.

1. Not DOT certified, could be an issue when and if you get pulled over and the cop (if you have luck like mine reads the state regulations book in his free time) wants to be a dick he can ticket you for all lamps not DOT certified, which in this case would be your headlamps.

2. Shipping on those is friggin outrageous. they weigh what, 3 pounds at the most? Why would shipping be close to 50 bucks?

3. On the other hand, it is YOUR vehicle. Do what you see fit

Seller is making up some of the cost in shipping. Happens all the time on eBay.

Nothing anyone can do about it except shop around and find something closer to actual shipping cost (which would then have a higher starting bid)

well actually, i believe they are DOT/SAE approved.

the shipping is extremely high, but that is the way it is on any headlights you purchase brand new from one of these ebay companies (flat rate).
believe me, i got very upset that i had to pay 50.00 for shipping on a set of customers lights, and the company was located only 5 hours away from me! and they still ship it ground even after you pay so much. but that is the way it goes.

yes, it is your vehicle. do as you wish, and make sure you are happy with what you decide on.

good luck with everything buddy!!!!!!!!!!!

to answer your question. i think the reason they look different is because they are a one piece headlight and corner which makes them seem like they are shaped slightly different. good luck. i think they would look good.

i like the design but the projector is so cheap it turns out to be a waste of money cause the light out put sucks on ebay projectors

Hey Henry .. Take a look at my cardomain site... I have this set on my 99 cavy .... Trust me when I say this is the best set of projectors I've seen .. The light output is great .. the low beam , high beam and turn lights are plug and play the halos and the 6 led's will need to be wired to a switch

Not that I have nothing against IznTrbl, but maybe the guy didn't go through him cause he doesn't want to spend $300+ on headlights. Though they look kickass.

It is possible to get nice looks and not pay an extra morgage doing so...

I agree with Terry though. It does look too busy with the LEDs. Just looks like they felt like filling in extra space and used leds

IznTrbl makes beautiful parts! plus you can work with him like i did and have him send u the parts to make em urself... and in the end, its cheaper which is obviously good... and you have the feeling that everytime you walk by ur car and take a look at em you think to urself... damn... i created that... instead of, damn... i paid out the ass for that... u know what i mean? i dunno about you guys but i like the feeling of having sumthing that you created that other people envy... even if other people have loads of money and can buy like 12 pairs of custom HID projectors with halos and all that for Josh at IznTrbl...

and thats all i got ta say about that...

How would you figure and say "I created that"...? He created it and you still paid out the ass for it, lol. I priced a set of projector-angel eyes for my car, and the cost came out to be something like $450. Plus I'd have to send in mine and lose my headlights.

Like I said though, I do agree that he makes awesome lights. However, some people perfer to not spend an arm and a leg, and go for something else more cost-effect.

I've said this before and it holds true to some people...

I'd rather pay a little extra to have someone else do it right than save a buck and screw it up doing it myself.

Can't disagree with that when it coems to lights. I see way too many projector projects which make too much glare, don't look right, etc.

the reason i said i created it is because i did... he sent me the ballasts n halos n @!#$ and i went at it blindly... well he sent me sum directions but i really didnt use em that much... and mine came out beautifly!!!

plus it didnt really cost me an arm and a leg... after sum negotiationg and makin sum deal, i got all the stuff to make em myself for a total of $185 shipped... now i dunno about you, but if you look for "projector" headlights for an 00-02 anywere, they are insainly expensive... like more than $200 and even then they arent true projectors... the r jus stock housings with a lil black paint inside...

now i can understand were you r commin from but i LOVE doin custom things to my car that before i start, i have no idea if i will prevail or fail misserably... but what u said holds tru to me when it comes to major parts of the car such as engine, transmission, and most electrical... only because i dont know enough about em to jus attack em with a wrench n duct tape u know? i wont try 2 @!#$ around with anythin unless i have faith in myself that i can do it right, or if i messup, i can jus remove what im tryin to do and put everything exactly the way it was before...

now i dont mean to piss anyone off or get on anyones bad side but what i post on these forum pages... im jus merely tryin to help people out from personal experience, or im tryin to expand my mind by askin questions to learn about @!#$... so if i have upset anyone at this point, im sorry...

$185 shipped?! That is a really badass price. I didn't know he shipped you the parts, I assumed he only sends them out done and what not. Damn, for the headights I have, I think I paid $135 or so. For only a tad more I could've had nifty projectors, lol. Thats awesome stuff.

I belive he was talking about me on that previous post. I can get you some pictures of them installed. I have the 6 leds inactive due to the "busy" look and due to having a prior history of Leds going out one at a time nothing looks worst then a few led's burnt out and u can't fix them. just hit me up on e-mail if you want some more pictures... likemann@hotmail.com
