Silverstar 9007 bulbs
Thursday, August 03, 2006 2:30 AM
Am I missing something here, or do they just not really show a difference? I mean, yes...I can tell it just a bit whiter. Like maybe 5%, but thats all. These put out the same amount of light as my stock ones. I got a pair of them at Autozone today and installed only one. Compared...and honestly, I'm not that impressed. I've read reviews on these and everyone is blown away. I ask...at what? Did I get a defective pair? They work....but look just like stock ones.

Then....what the deal with my set? Anyone have a side by side comparison of Silverstars/Stock?

i got a set for my 02 sunfire and i found a difference... a lot whiter and brighter. That being said my brother has an 01 accord coupe and he tried them and didn't find any real difference other than a bit whiter. I was impressed with them but on my last car i got a set of aftermarket bulbs that put out i think it was around 70 - 80 w for low beam. That was a 91 car and didn't affect the wiring. I wouldn't do it to the one i have now. I just added a set of driving lights for on the highway. But hey to each his own!

I'm with them.^
Mines are a cleaner light and things that shine them are brighter (reflectors, cars, animals, people)

The thing is some people think that they're going to get HID bright & white with Silverstars. That's just not the case.

I have the 9007's on my SRT and instantly noticed a huge difference.

I hear you. The difference is not that spectacular. I compared them to the stock lights on a 03 Sunfire, and the difference was minimal. However, that was at dusk. Once night came and it was completely dark there was a noticeable difference in brightness. The Silverstars are definitely whiter and brighter and allow for slightly better night vision. On the same token they are no where near HIDs, but they do offer a much better look than stock IMO.

Not trying to jack the thread, but what about the sylvania cool blues? Any real difference between these and stock?

The difference is noticed most when you are on a road where there is no street lights at all. I have the SilverStars in my Beretta and I love them, well worth the money.

Now I apologize for the hijack, but what sizes do I need for the 04 Cav? Both headlights and fogs?

Basically everyone is correct. I have PIAA Extremes with a 4100K color, a little whiter than the Silverstars and again they illuminate much more at night over stocks but in no way HID type. I have driven behind an X5 with HIDs and Dayum, but my PIAAs are no way that bright. A halogen bulb can only do so much. If you look at Sylvannia's site they state the Silverstars to be I believe +/- 15% increase in lumens over stock.

i once compared them, and wasn't impressed either, my eurolite's were brighter. just my .02.

one of my buddies had them in his 04 cavi and you couldn't tell the difference form stock, in the other 3 cais there that had them (including mine) they were alot brighter and whiter then stock. You may have a defective pair or something, I knwo his were way off from the rest of ours

I baught some and they are better than my stock ones and I have a 04 Cav. At first they did not work any better till i got them properly adjusted, did u make sure they were adjusted correctly?

Thanks for the comments guys.

Yea, they are adjusted correctly and everything. I can tell a very small difference, but nothing like I was expecting. Now I know I was not going to be getting an HID type color/lighting. But I was expecting something a bit more then I see.

I'm going to try and snap a picture of this, so yall can see what I'm talking about .

I got them and they made a huge difference, but then got blacked out headlights and lost alot of light, i think it might make a difference from 95-02 to 03-05's though in seeing a major different cause the headlights reflectors are different. I'm going projector Hid now.

I was excited to try them a few months ago when I had a light out. I too read everyone's comments about how great they are, but wow what a let down. I'm very unimpressed, they were a waste of money.

I noticed a difference in that the light was cleaner and objects seemed more defined...

does anyone else have the problem where it seems that the silverstar lights dont seem to do a @*$#& thing in the rain?

They were obviously brighter and a cleaner looking white, and haven't changed since the day I bought them. Very good aftermarket bulb.

If people are looking for HID quality so much, by a HID conversion kit and install HID's for that "dynamite light effect". A bulb simply won't put out as much as a HID can.

should be legal. they are just a direct bulb replacement without the color change effect of HID's

I don't think they care much in Chicago, lol. In my Buick, I used to have these Blue Xenon bulbs that were pretty damn blue and cops didn't care. In my Cavy, I had these Greenish Xenon bulbs and cops still didn't care. Now I have Silverstars in, and cops haven't said a thing for over a year.

When it comes to headlights, unless they are screaming aftermarket color, cops will assume their either stock, or its a HID bulb. I don't think cops would say anything anyways. I mean hell, cars like the Acura TL, C6 Corvette, BMW, etc come with HIDs that damn near make you flip your rear-view down with how bright they are. So you are good to go with aftermarket bulbs like the Silverstars.

A while back i bought a set, and i was very dissapointed. I dont know what it was, but they were "whiter" than stock, but the amount of light they put out wasnt as much as stock, wont buy another set. Ive been running stocks for a while, but just got my hands on my luminics and nokya bulbs, trying to get over this mono so i can put them in

As for the silverstars--most people seem to like, but for me waste of money
