i went to the fla j bash and ran my car at the track for the first time... 18.6 (but we wont go there)
anyways... how the hell do i get this chalk off my window short of a razor blade?
i dunno where else to put this thread..
Hey man......at least you ran it!
Maybe some 3M adhesive remover? I dunno if it's okay to use on glass tho. Why not use a razor with a little soap and water? Shouldn't be a problem.
Convert 00+ headlights to 95-99
They used white shoe polish on my windows, then it started raining. I still have that s#$% on my windows and paint. So I look forward to any good ideas to get that off.
Labrat
take all off all my numbers from the track, with a pressure washer
Do it yourself carwash and high presure hose.
Now about this 18.6 time......did they make you push it?
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
use a razor blade
pressure washers never work , ive washed my cav , and never removed the #'s , and they stayed through atleast a half dozen washes
as for the paint a scrub brush should work
soap and water lol
or brake cleaner.. squirt some on a cloth and wipe it off, then just windex the windows, wont leave anything behind!

15.1@90.34mph
at my track, i run my hand over it and it comes off...they must be using pretty potent stuff!
02 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon
well it baked on the window in the 120 deree weather at the show the next day (yes farenheight)
ill try brake cleaner, and then i guess its a razor blade, thanks for the suestions
and rofl no i didnt push it! its a 2200 3 speed
I have always used windex. Spray it on the window chalk and let it sit for a minute. It should wipe off
ya first thing that came to my mind was windex. Have you tried that? hahaah

that makes you a pedafile, and I'm not gonna stand here and argue
with a pervert" -- Peter Griffin
That's why I washed off my numbers that night
Try window cleaner first, with a bug/tar sponge/cloth. I dont know if I would use brake cleaner though.
If you dont want to do much work, take a soapy rag and cover it for a bit. Let it soak for a while and then you should be able to rub the crap off real easy. Just dont let it dry out.
brand of stuff remover called "goo- gone"... works WONDERS on anything needed to be taken off your car thats sitcky, heavy, or anything along those lines.
why wouldnt you use a razor blade? as long its on your window. i work at a detail shop, when new cars come in all them have that on the windows, we use degreaser, such as tire degreaser, or just a blade......and a pressure washer.
My favorite is the window cleaner and a razor blade. spray on the the cleaner, wait about 30 seconds, and the razor blade lifts it right off with no problem.
@!#$ i was JUST bout wondering the same thing. i think what sux is that what happened is like you said, that @!#$ baked on there the next day in the heat. i'm still working on it.....

I used Stoner's Invisible glass on mine the next day after the track. Came right off.
@!#$ty thing is different tracks use different things to put the numbers on. Some tracks use shoe polish because it's cheap to buy and they don't mind using a lot of it. Then you have the more upscale tracks willing to spend the extra dollar per bottle on the stuff that is LIKE shoe polish but comes off with either a good wipe or windex. I went out and bought a bottle of shoe polish for myself so I always know what is on there.
Here's how you get both off.
Shoe polish: Easiest and cheapest way is to take a razor blade (preferably in a holder so you don't cut yourself, which DOES hurt LOL) and spray the numbers down with Windex or some other glass cleaner. Let it sit for a couple seconds and then start scraping the numbers off. As you go keep wiping the blade off so the polish doesn't build up on it. After you get it all off just take another paper towel and clean the window like normal. Should be good as new. Used this method over a hundred times last year and never had an issue.
Geddex Dial-in Window Marker: Found here If your lucky to be at a track that uses this stuff consider yourself lucky, and unlucky, all at the same time. It is extremely easy to get off using glass cleaner and a paper towel but it will also come off super easy if you accidentally open the window, which I'm sure no in sitting in a staging lane in Florida ever does. LOL.
Wow...never thought I'd do a mini write-up on removing track numbers. Guess you gotta start somewhere. LOL/

ill try the windex / raz0r blade
DON'T USE AN ABRASIVE PAD.
I was being lazy one day and I couldn't find a razor blade so I just used an abrasive pad thinking if I was gentle it would be fine... scratched the @!#$ outta my window.
razor blade....then windex

All depends on what you use. I use #000 steel wool on my windows all summer to get the bugs off that simple windex doesn't remove. I wouldn't use coarser than #00 though. #000 is an amazing tool actually.
