Pic. request: silver Sunfires with window tint
Tuesday, May 02, 2006 10:00 AM
I have been throwing around the idea of getting my windows tinted for a while now. There's only one problem, I know nothing about window tint as far as how dark what percentages are, etc. I have been thinking about doing all five windows 35%, but I am not really sure what 35% tint looks like.

I tried searching through the registry but really didn't come up with any good pictures that showed 35% tint. I would really appreciate it if people could post pictures of their window tint, preferably 35% and preferably on a silver Sunfire. Thanks in advance.

Go to the members link, go to "Advanced Search". Fill in "Sunfire", "Silver", and "35%" in the appropriate spots. A list will come up with match registries, most have pictures or links to a CarDomain site.

I would have posted the link to the results directly, but while searching the address is still just http://www.j-body.org/members/search/, so the only way was to give you the instructions. Just letting you know I wasn't being an ass.

Ok, You know what? the search here blows trust me.. it could not find Lambo's doors on this Site.

With that being Said I will offer help.

Tint is mesured in how much light is allowed to pass through the glass.
normaily your offered 5,20,35,45%
5% or "limo" is the drakest you can go and that's what I have in my 3 rears.. and let me say..it's really dark wich is nice where there is a jerk behind you with there high beams on. Or if you ever get pulled over it gives you time too get on your seat belt ( or what ever) before Mr. Popo sicks his head in.

ALso Make sure you ask them if they sand behind there product agents Bubbies and turning purple. they should have a life time warrenty

Also The Dot Matrix (at the top of the rear window) on our cars is a bitch todo so make sure you point that out and make sure they do it right, My pics where taken when I just got it home and it was still wet. It looks a lot better now.

Here is a pic of my car and thats with 5% in the rear 3 and 20% in th efront 2. Just so you have a ideal.. I know it's not 35 and it's not a silver Sunflower.

As you can see thats pretty dark. 30% you could see the outlines of my seats a little better and 45% is well some where between the side and what you have now. and that's just not worth it in my mind.. ( it's like lowering a J 1 inch)

I hoped I helped a little.

Like I said in my first post, I tried searching and came up with nothing. I entered everything you said and then searched for people with pictures. Three people came up, but none of them had pictures of their cars with tinted windows. I searched for people without pictures and none of them had Car Domain or any other sites listed. So, that's why I posted since I came up with nothing.

Tint is measured in how much light is allowed to pass through the glass. Normally you're offered 5%, 20%, 35% and 45%. 5% or "limo" is the darkest you can go and that's what I have in my 3 rears. And let me say, it's really dark which is nice when there is a jerk behind you with their high beams on or if you ever get pulled over it gives you time to get your seat belt on, or whatever, before Mr. Popo sticks his head in.

Also make sure you ask them if they stand behind their product. If they have a warranty against bubbles and turning purple. The tint should have a lifetime warranty

Also, the dot matrix (at the top of the rear window) on our cars is a bitch to do so make sure you point that out and make sure they do it right. My pictures where taken when I had just brought it home and the tint was still wet. It looks a lot better now.

Here is a pic of my car with 5% in the rear 3 windows and 20% in the front 2 windows. Just so you have a idea. I know it's not 35% and it's not a silver Sunflower.

As you can see that's pretty dark. With 30% you could see the outlines of my seats a little better and 45% is well, somewhere in between the sides and what you have now and that's just not worth it in my mind (it's like lowering a J 1").

Yes, you did help. Even though the pictures you posted were of a gold Crapalier . Thanks for your help. Oh, and by the way... my car will be lowered 1".

Yeah, that's a good idea, unfortunately no one I know around here has tinted windows .

I am thinking I am just going to go with 35% on all five windows. I don't want it to be real dark, so I think 35% will be just right.

IMO 35% is a bit too light, but I like it when people can't see me much. I currently have 15% on the sides, 30% on the back window, and a 30% strip on the windshield. My g/f has 30% all around, with a 5% strip on the windshield. The 30% is a good medium between too light during the day, and too dark at night.

I think 20% all around would look the best. I have a black sunfire but i think in my profile i have a pic. The fronts are 35 and the rears are 20, but i wish i would have just got 20 all the way around. The 20 is not hard to see out of even at night, and during the day it keeps the sun out very well and still not too easy to see through.

i have 5% tint on my back windows and front and also tint strip. my car is all black so i like how it looks with this very dark tint. some people may say that dont like it cuz its hard to see at night, i say if they dont like hindering their vision then dont tint ur windows at all as any type of tint will hinder it to an extent. im not trying to bash on other people or their tint %, but its just my opinion that i like the 5% better. and i dont have a problem seeing at night either

I've got 35% on my silver Cavalier. Here are some pics.
It's illegal here in Tennessee to have the front window tinted more than 6 inches below the top, so I opted not to. The back and sides, however are 35%.

Here's a good no-tint pic for comparison.
