does anyone know where i can find smoke tail lights?? and are they legal?
This needs to go in the exterior forum.
no krap huh...i forgot i was still in the performance section...it was the excitment..sorry..too bad i cant delete this one
Don't sweat it. But to answer your questions, you can get smoked covers from different places, lots of parts stores can get them, or places like APC I think have the whole assembly with different finishes. Just do a search and you should find them.
As far as if they're legal, in many places, no. Best bet is call the local police department and ask them what the law states. Either way you're not likely to get a ticket for them, but some cops are dicks like that.
I blacked out my tails with vht nightshades and haven't had any problems. The only things the cops that pulled me over said to change was my license plate cover and tinted windows. With the lights on, the really can't tell they're smoked, looks almost like the factory ones do.
who cares if they are legal or not
just playin, ive never been questioned about mine
also never been questioned about mine even when the cops already had me stopped...i used vhs niteshade so it just depends on how dark you go

friend of mine got pulled over in cali for his tails , but his were dark
id give them a few light coats , just enough to make the color even , and a little darker
then mask off the area for the reflector and where the light actually comes through , then do the srounding areas with a few more coats
that way you can tell that some areas are lighter , but still look dark from a distance
some cars had slightly dark tails , i know pontiac's had some models with darker tails , like the firebirds and trans ams
Yeah, like I said it's pretty much illegal anywhere you go. But when I was a reserve, not a single officer rode with ever pulled anyone over and wrote a ticket for having tinted tails or even windows. They did write a few for the headlight blackouts, though but those things are really dark and the light just doesn't come through like it should. The VHT stuff is supposed to be pretty much transparent when lit up from what I can tell, and it seems like people like it, I'd say use that instead of the covers.
My friend just used this VHT stuff on his Cobalt SS tail lights and it turned out awesome. He hasn't run into any issues with cops yet.

can you get that VHT Nightshades in stores? Or only on-line? I had some things I wanted to black-out also.
