I was wanting to know if vented style carbon fiber hoods like example(Evo 5 Hood from VIS Racing) are good for every day driving. I know that it will allow the hot air to escape from the engine bay better, but what about when it rains? Will that harm the engine or a short ram air intake?
Most of these hoods come with covers that cover the vented areas. Even though they are covered you have to remeber there is moisture on your engine everyday....its just comes from the bottom of the engine bay.
You should get a cold air box (like a Weapon R) for your short ram. It will most DEFINITELY keep out the rain. Also, Heat extractor vents usually are covered with grills and foam that does a pretty good job of keeping out debris.
So even with an invader/extractor style hood you don't have to worry about the rain getting in ?
