i have this carbon fiber hood i sold to Shifted hes been more than patient with me on shipping, since i had no box but i got one, and i have the hood packaged up, but i have no way to weigh it. DHL was supposed to pick it up today, but i didnt supply a weight, so they said they wouldnt come. so i gotta reschedule for monday

basically, im wondering if anyone knows the ROUGH estimated weight of a cf hood in a box. any help is greatly appreciated

If you have a bathroom scale, you get on the scale, note your weight, get off the scale, grab the hood, and get back on the scale again. Subtract the two numbers and thats the weight of the hood

Can get them for like $8 at walmart, lol, cheap, but do the job.

A fish scale would probably work too, but are more expensive.

Basically its a little box with a spring in it, a pointer, and a hook on the bottom. You hang the fish from the hook, and it pulls the little pointer down on the spring to tell the wieght.

my f/g ram air hood boxed up and wrapped weighed 8lbs.. well thats what was on teh recipte Joe i would be really careful with DHL tho.. they really @!#$ed up my ram air hood. and didnt pay the full insurance coverage on it. If i were u i would really protect those edges and corners with styrofoam and bubble wrap.. DHL has a tendecy of dropping and dragging big boxes.. no matter how much they weigh..

p.s. hope its not the turbo sport hood

well, DHL is being ghey so i dont even know how much it will cost, and i have to be home for them to pick it up

i dont know what to do, Shifted has waited forever for me to ship this thing, and im getting really frustrated, as im sure he is. i know hes on a time scale for moving

but i do know it weighs about 35lbs, since i have about 120 sq ft of bubble wrap, and a packing blanket. i dont trust them shipping co's!!

anyone ever done pickups with these shipping co's??

Why do DHL? Why not UPS, take it in to a UPS Store... ask for the cheapest way possible, but insure it!

^ UPS charges per size of the box, DHL charges by weight (mostly). It would be insane to ship it UPS.

Joe.. http://www.shipgreyhound.com/
They can get it to him in a day or two.

cheap shipping too, only disadvantages i see is u pretty much have to meet at a appointed time to pick it up, and u have to meet in the city that has a drop off or w/e. Just click "Find a Location" and find the closest city to you and the closest city to shifted that u can drop off and he can pick up. you both might have to drive a lil bit and make sure ur there at a certain time.. but i think it was like 60 bucks when i quoted to ship a ram air hood from here to MD. Might be something to consider..

Well here i already looked up the locations
Buffalo = http://shipgreyhound.com/scripts/quotes/terminal.asp?ocity=150249
Green Bay = http://shipgreyhound.com/scripts/quotes/terminal.asp?ocity=500643
Shifted maybe there is a closer city that has a area, you can click here and see the list of cities.

^^^body kit yes, hood, no

ive dealt with greyhound on shipping, and they are slow, and rough with the goods. my body kit was pretty banged up. good thing it was urethane.

i was told id have my body kit in 3 days, took a week and a half. big difference there when you have to call everyday to see if its arrived,

ya, i did. thats why it weighs so much. i spent $40 just to wrap the hood, lol. if they break it, they must really been trying to throw it around. i got all the edges SUPER padded
