thanks to IZN for the clear lenses and all the aid he has given me
not complete yet, soon though. im making the outer 194 bulb a amber turn signal and the big hole the brake light, similar to the TOYO tails, but different, all clear. anyways, heres some pics, tell me what you think.
i made a template of the diffuser, but it on a bandsaw, ran it on a disksander to get it perfect, then heated it to bend it into shape. im making the inner tails tomorrow, i ran outa time and effort tonight.
lookin good but i would of left them clear personally and put a led bulb in the that emits red for brake and a yellow one for turn imo but none the less great job!
Who needs a sig?

i am using LED's but in the daylight, the LEDs dont disperse enough light....... The covers are gonna be red like my car.....and it will cover up the silicone bead around it
Also, with the angle that the larger hole is sitting at, an LED bulb is not feasible.
It would have to be centered.
its an awkward shot, its gonna work out ok, i think im gonna use a regular 194 yellow instead of LED's, not bright enough
It's not awkward... I can tell from that one pic that if you were to use LED's for brake/park, it still wouldn't work as well, even if they were bright enough.
For the turn though, you could use an LED bulb. it's close enough to the lens that it won't disperse that badly.
u dont think i could use a LED 3157 with the 10 LED's on the top? i dont feeel like finding a pic, but i have two of them for that purpose. I mean, going to advanced auto and getting a set of red 3157's isnt a prob either, which do you think would be best?
I would buy a set like that if painted with the signal outter part being amber, and the inner red for a Sunfire. Looks good!
It would work as is if you had a 4 dr (or can find a set of 2 dr covers)
btw... jWagg, forgot to say
why, when you can use red and yellow bulbs? thanks though!
lol the first part of my response was to Ender...
This is a very rough representational cross sectionas to what I mean as to why you can't use an LED bulb even if you wanted to...
the upper part is your cover, the blank area is the hole.
The lower is the reflector dish. The red is the light patternof the LED.
BTW, for the same price you can get bulbs with 21+ LED's
okay, so the LED's shinning onto the reflectors isnt gonna do jack @!#$? o well ,looks like im getting red 3157's
194's have a tighter beam pattern...
They should be able to shine through the reflector without a problem.
For the reg bulbs though, get dyed glass, not painted. They hold color longer.
sorry to interrupt your guys conversation.
i just wanted to sneak in a post and say....
they are looken great so far justin. i cant wait to see the final project.
you have accomplished so much in such little time. i may have to get you onto my pay roll.

Hey, it's always a pleasure... no apology necessary
haha, im fast

lol payroll

absolutely j/k anyways, kardain, do you think i need to get a RED 3157 bulb instead of the LEDS?
cool, im gonna go to advanced auto tomorrow and pic up some red ones
Next comes the test-light pics, right?
yep, im iffy ordering from that site, have you ordered from there? and i really dont feel like waiting to get them, i wanna get this @!#$ over with so i can get onto my body kit........
Nah, just using that as an example site.
Just whatever bulbs you get, as soon as they start turning pinkish, start lookin for a set of dyed glass.
I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I find some.

Sadly, ive got a 2 door, and APC lights seem to be about the only choice. As for what hes jWagg's setup, something that looked like that for a Sunfire would sell, if the light was painted orange for the outter part, and red for the inner (of the same lense) Worse part is though, isnt the turn signal and taillight/brake the same bulb?
what u mean dyed glass? is that what makes those bulbs so bright? they are dyed glass? not a cover?
Dyed glass is exactly that... when the bulb is formed, the raw material is fused with a red dye.
Other bulbs have a transparent, high temp paint applied, which fades over time. Red is notorious for fading the fastest.
It has no impact on brightness, just longevity of color.
oic, wonder what makes the nokya bulbs so bright? so they claim......
