Polishing ecotec cam cover?
Monday, September 26, 2005 2:49 PM
Not sure where to put this so move it if need be, thanks. I just bought a spare ecotec cam cover to polish. I know its going to take a while to do which is fine but, I don't know where to start. I have a dremel to use, I think that would be better then my hands. Any specific steps to it or any suggestions? Thanks.

wet sand by hand with 1200, 1500, 2000 then break out the mothers and the dremel and get to it.

Dear lord...that's a lot of work.

You could always have us do it, if you want. Send a picture my way, and I'll give you a quote. I'll keep it reasonable--I've been wanting to do an Ecotec for a long time now! Here's a sample for ya:

Guys its not that hard. get a good polish and use a 10 inch orbital buffer and just go at it
you'll need the dremmel for the little indented areas but other then that the castings are usualy fairly good and I've never needed to sand any of the ones I've done. The best polish I've found is sold at truck stops around here its called something like truckers friend I'll post the exact name and phone number of the guy who makes and sells it. It
makes Mothers and the rest look like you trying to polish useing spit. Its awesome.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

I don't want it powder coated, thats why I asked about polishing it. I will have some pics up in a few min's of it. I just did about a half hour worth of work with my buffer.
