they're more reliable and have a better warranty than a J.
hardly. everyone i know witha hyundai thinks its a pos.
I agree with that but I got yelled at for saying that before. Cars with 62,000 miles shouldn't have a tranny completely die. Maybe they've improved since 1997, but I doubt it. My wife still likes them, I guess she's more forgiving then me.
yes, they've improved DRASTICALLY since then. i wasn't a fan until my friend got a V6 tiburon(the new version)...and they've slowly grown on me. the Koreans learned VERY quickly how to build a worthwhile car.

I have had no problems with my Hyundai Santa Fe and it's going on 4 years old now. Your ignorant to say that Hyundia is a POS. Cavaliers are a true POS. I was actually going to buy the 2006 Accent as they already have it posted on the HyundaiUSA website. I see the design staying almost identical and you can see that in the 2006 that is coming out. See
http://www.hyundaiaccent.com/ . I am ALL for it. THAT will be my next car. Even if it doesn't look identical - I will still buy it plus get my discount for being a repeat buyer.
I used to own a 97 Accent.. The tranny went 3 times before I sold it.. Other than that the car worked pretty good..

As Laura stated, the quality has improved a million times over from 1997 to now.
I can honestly say that if i test drove it and liked it i would definetly swap my tc for it.
i like it and i own a 03 tiburon.. actually if hyundai does come out with the RWD tiburon in 2007 or so ill most likely trade my 03 in for it..
also yes older hyundais were POS's...all newer models have changed they are ranked high up with reliability now when they first started out they were using mitsubishi parts the little 2.0 they crammed in to the old tiburons and most of there newer cars which is still used in the low end tiburon can handle alot thrown at it.. also hyundai owns KIA too i had a KIA as a rental a while back a new 05 it wasnt bad at all pretty comfortable peppy and good sound system.. but i wouldnt buy a car that has KIA slapped on the ass.

"Theres a time in every mans life where he hits a cross roads and...wait...are you wearing panties?"
Ive driven a current style accent
WHAT A POS....id take a j over it anyday
i would NEVER buy a hyundai, i really don't think any of their cars are that great, None of them look nice, interiors are all so-so but good for the price, engines are OK, transmissions are known for serious prbolems and plain suck, reliablity is average about the same as GM exsept for the sonata(i think that's the mid sized one)......i dont see what people like them so much for
and the 10 year warrenty is bull @!#$, they wouldnt even fix the check engine light on the 01 accent my friend use to have, it only had like 32K on it
I guess I just expect more from a car that was 5 years old and 2,000 miles over the warranty when it died. I'm just glad the Pontiac dealer gave us $1000 for a broken piece of crap car. That was the only foreign car I've owned and hopefully will ever own. It's also the only car I've ever had a problem with. I'm sure they're good cars, but like the old saying goes; fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
I liek the look of that, way too small of a car for me, looks kinda tiny. The interior looks nice in teh pictures but I can see it being a cheap interior like the current ones. My sister has a 03 accent and hates it more then anythign shes ever seen. It has a different problem every week, and I drove it once, never again. Cheapest interior ive ever been in. At the same time though I have a friend who has an Elantra and one with a Santa Fe and they couldnt be happier. So hopefully this new one gets the same quality that they've been putting into the bigger cars.

It's hard to say that anything is a peice of crap. If you look at an Acura TL, they go through transmissions like Oprah goes through baked hams, but I would not call them a POS. Pretty much every 01-05 Honda Civic / Acura 1.7 EL that got traded in to my dealership had blown struts, but that doesn't make them a POS. I think what does matter is if the company fixes the problem or not. If hyundai was still building the same crap as the 97 accents, then it would be out of the picture, but they are not.
That's why I'm starting to loose my faith in GM. Sometimes they just don't learn.
But that's all just my opinion.
I like the looks of the car, but I don't trust Hyundai just yet. I've heard too many stories about their cars being a POS to have faith in their cars just yet.
For the people that STILL think Hyundais are bad,
please take a look at this.
I have said it before, I predict & expect Hyundai to be where Honda is today in 10-15 years. They have used the same formula and it is working for them.

the accent is the base model there cheap model like the cav is to GM or was. sorry because the dealership wouldnt fix your problem doesnt mean hyundai is crap.. all cars have issues.. the trans are fine dont beat the hell out of the car and you wont have to worry.. you buy a used car ya you dont know how the other person treated it or took care of it..
they are up there with toyota in build quality. why can they offer the 10 year warranty? ya its because they cut out one specific that can get pricey they do not offer any rental car paid for by them thats out of pocket.
sorry some dealerships are @!#$ ive taken mine in for a electrical problem they tested every single inch of the system and said it was a grounding issue due to aftermarket equipment.. IE alarm amp etc.. they also fixed my sunroof which had gone off track a little and programed a set of key fobs which they usually charge for when they didnt come with the car but did it for free..
any of there new cars are built really well just because you know someone who knew someone with a issue doesnt mean they are crap.. you're pretty much judging the entire company on a few bad apples or there older model cars.. which if you want to do that then judge the cav older ones people considered POS right? so they call new ones POS because of the older models or because they had or knew someone who had one that was beat to hell by a previous owner or just had issues to begin with. heres another major difference the cav platform was what over 20 years old brakes suspension for the most part minor changes.. hyundai has come out with various different upgrades for theres over the years learning more and more.

"Theres a time in every mans life where he hits a cross roads and...wait...are you wearing panties?"
It looks like Hyundai designed a car for WRC, all that's missing is the AWD system.

Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home
GAWD
this many peopel dont know about the restructurization of hyundai??
EVERYTHING pre 2002 (no cars for hyundai were produced in 02 btw because of the DRASTIC re work of the company) anyways everythign pre 02 is a HUGE pile of shiz. period.
they were vitally linked with mitsu and had bad worksmanship and bad parts
READ ANY REVIEW on ANY hyundai 03+ and it is excellent. 03+ is also when they started the 10 year warranty.
and mr good- i call 7 years and they will be in a close foot race with honda.
their cars are absolutely amazing.
--------
but again ive always said this 02 and older hyundais are liek a ENTIRE DIFF COMPANY then 03+ cant even talk about their cars from the 2 tiem periods in the same sentence realistically.

acually it is to be released later in the year
i know for a fact that mitsubishi is now going to be useing hyndia motors in all there upcomeing 2006 2007 models
the motor in the hyndia accents is the newly designed theada (sp!) motor the lower end accents are suppose to have 160 hp non turbo theadas and the turbo theadas are hugely underated at 200 hp
the base accents 1/4 mile time with the manual is suppose to be like mid 15s and the SR is like mid 14s on.............cant remember what that mag said like 8 psi or something in the single digets
and i know the SR is starting under 20k!!!!!!!
i want one lol i did a lot of research on it lol
well i stand corrected.
*sighs happily* looks like my next car will be a hyundai. Toyota's designs are going down the tubes...they all look the same. hooooooooray for something slightly different!

lol nice to see some people do there research.. IE 03 tibs the 6 speeds had a clutch issue.. 05 the clutch issue is resolved entirely.. same with the sunroof assemblys they had some minor issues with the 03 tibs i believe 04 05 got a new assembly.. so they recognize issues fix them right away. also some dealers in az will even order aftermarket parts for you like the KDM parts... in general they do not really give you @!#$ for modding the car either atleast the dealer ive been to here and majority of the other ones with the tib group and elantra group do not run in to any issues getting warranty work done to there modded cars..
when i had the cav any issue the dealer tried to pawn off on it being a aftermarket part and also marked every part on the invoice in the system saying what was done to the car.. hyundai dealer didnt even do that when i had it in.

"Theres a time in every mans life where he hits a cross roads and...wait...are you wearing panties?"
Damn, thats nice I like it.. I have a 93 elantra now as a beater. Looks like I need to step up haha

Any ideas on pricing?
It also owns a Celica..
Red 2005 Saturn Ion-3 Coupe
Damn thats a pretty nice car. I doubt that they will release that exact version but if its pretty close to that Id def consider it if Hyundai gives an option for AWD. I imagine it would have Huge potential. But yeah for sure that car is pretty hot.
