Honda CR-Z to get a Turbo
Monday, December 06, 2010 5:29 PM
The CR-Z is set to receive an all-new turbocharged 1.6-litre powerplant that is currently undergoing development at Honda’s Tochigi R&D center.
The new engine, which is also planned for the Jazz, Civic and Accord, forms an integral part of a downsizing program instigated at Honda. With forced induction and Honda’s patented VTEC-i fully variable camshaft timing system, it is aimed at providing the performance of a typical 2.0-litre engine from a capacity of just 1.6 litres.
Sources in Japan say the new engine is likely to come in two guises: a standard 160bhp model and a highly tuned 200bhp version aimed at matching the now defunct 2.0-litre VTEC engine in the Civic Type R. This more potent spec is likely to form the basis of a CR-Z Type R, tentatively due out late next year.
Would not mind these styling too.

I wont say that it looks good, but its alot better than when it started. Will only be interested if they ditch the heavy and pointless hybrid system.

I was excited for it while reading..... but then I saw pictures. That red car is hideous minus the wheels. Both cars would look 100x better without the wings.

Wings can be removed, I must say it does remind me of the old CRX and I could see potential. I wouldn't drive it but not a bad design for that type of car. I don't mind seeing the hybrid setup, it's just a matter of time until this will be a forced option to mod anyways.

These things just bug me but I see them having potential.

that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

The grey one is the 2011 Honda CR-Z Mugen....
Internet Google wrote:
Heads up, CR-Z fans: Honda has announced that the company will be releasing a mere 300 Mugen accessory kits for the Japanese sport hybrid. The ultra-rare bodywork includes bits like a completely revised front fascia with an altered grille design, a massive rear spoiler and flashy 17-inch rollers. Under the hood things stay nearly completely stock, though Honda has swapped the blasé plastic oil filler cap with a billet aluminum piece. Astounding, we know.

But all of that pales in comparison to the interior work. Along with a new shift knob, Honda has installed "sport mats." We aren't entirely sure what makes a floor mat sporty, but we'll take their word for it.

The body kits will be available in all five CR-Z colors. So far, there's no word on how much the kits will cost, but we can't imagine they'll go cheap. Hit the jump for the full press blast.

^^Damn, look at the rear of the car, how in the hell are you supposed to see behind you? The rear seems to be higher than the front seats lol

The rear is god aweful! I think the black panel between the tails is tinted but transparent.

Thanks MD for clarifying the grey one was a Mugen design CR-Z for SEMA, I thought I put that in already, looks like I didn't. But like I stated: "Would not mind these styling too" hoping that the Turbo would look like that.

put the wheels off the red one on the mugen and it'd be a lot better.

"A matter of time" has passed in November when Bisi made 545bhp with the CRZ, while still remaining a hybrid.
