As soon as i drive the GF's car over bumps big or small it sounds like the car is gonna fall apart. There is major movement it seems in the control arm area. When i press the brakes the steering wheel vibrates aswell. Has anyone else experienced this problem. If so what is the problem and what am i looking at doing to fix this? She is the original owner of the car and it has 90,000kms on it
Thanks in advance
Chuck
These cars are known for sway bar end links going. Thats probably the noise over bumps.
As for the steering wheel shaking when braking, chances are that the rotors are out of round. They will probablt need to be replaced or machined.
My hhr has had its end links replaced about three times. The HHR and cobalt have the same end links.....its your end links...or maybe upper front strut mounts.

Agreed. check out cobaltss.net. I remember this was an issue with early cobalts, and was actually the last straw for me when I realized mine were going and it was nearly out of warranty.
My crappy Ion would go through sway bar endlinks every 4-6 months. Sometimes even sooner. It's probably that.

check the strut mounts my buddy has a cobalt and he had clanking/ nocking sound and his struts were loose
CHECK THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS AT THE REAR OF THE ARM. THE RUBBER SEPARATES AND THE ARM BANGS AGAINST THE SUBFRAME. MAKING AN AWFUL THUD BANG CRUNCH NOISE. LET ME KNOW WHAT U FIND
