Awww damn, hope you can fix it fairly inexpensively. Keep at it though, I still love this thread!

Holy #$%!..... well i just read EVERY single post on EVERY single page. It was like an addicting book really. Just to read that your tranny flopped.
I just have to say... i am envius of you. I wish i had a quarter of your ability and balls.
Anyways.... My friend has about the same car and he had almost the same problem about 10 months ago. He found a motor and tranny for like 125 bucks. Opened the motor and it was runable, but burnt to @#$# and back and would prbly blow shortly. The tranny was good though, bought some gasket and rebuild kit for cheap and he has been running it since.
Hope you get the same luck man! I'll be following this, it's inspiring. lawl
yea i've found a couple guys with tranys on craigslist emailed them and called but nothing yet. Right now im takin a break from the tearing apart. So far all i need to do is remove the half shafts, block the motor to hold it, undo the mounts and lower the tranny out. lol best thing ever today, i dropped a bolt and it fell into the hole in the tranny and fell out the hole in the bottom lol. i about fell laughin. Really pissed right now tho cuz i need a 32mm socket to get the drive nuts loose and i know i have one from when i first got the car and did the drivers axle but for the life of me i cant find the @!#$in thing. Its sunday to so sears is closed and all the local hardware stores are closed. Also my buddy that helped me out last night was suppost to come help me today and he never showed the @!#$ up lol go figure. I'll have pics up later on.
Haha i will be eagerly awaiting pictures. I have a friend that is having similar problems with his cougar that i was talking to today..
Looks fine to me... look at the other side though to see if it is chipping or anything. While you have it all apart you should look into get a cheap stage 3 clutch off of ebay or something..
only problem with that. Its a modluar clutch set up... its all one peice. flywheel, plate, clutch one big @!#$in peice riveted together
So get aftermarket @!#$. That would make it easier to modify in the future too.
==============================================================
Yes, noob, the search button is for you...
well i could do the new clutch swap but its alot more parts i would need to get and alot more money i would need to spend. Wouldn't be a problem but i need the car fixed by tomorrow and seriously im outta money now. car insurance is due, phone bill is due and lol yea i got a $250 trans today lol
Anyways heres what i did today. sat around most of the day waiting for some @!#$ head to call me about a trans and heard nothing by 4pm. so i got on craigslist and found a guy partin out a 95 Talon. Gave him a called and asked him about the trans. He told me he bought the car to use the motor and that the trans was rebuilt around 10k ago and the guy dumped something like $2500 into the tranny rebuild lol. Asked him how much and he said $250. Told him to give me his address and i'll be down to get it tonight. Drove 2hrs one way to get it and this is what i got:

Guy also gave me the clutch thatr was in the car

Also grabbed a pigtail i needed to install the Demon Coil i got. Tom im gonna install the trans and hopfully drive the car again.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
common man you didnt have it in after the drive last night you bum

haha yea ok i was tired man. im in the process of making this disaster into something good

i'll post pics tonight
hrmm... please excuse my ignorance... but what all can you really have done to a tranny to improve it that would cost 2500 dollars? i mean... really... lol
And here, i thought you had an endless suppply of money. I was like...l god damn i wish i had this dudes cash, any time you needed money you just went and got it.
Im worried about having to buy new tires soon! lawl
Oh and that sucks about the clutch.

Haha.... i figured, but i wasnt sure. =P

Cryo treated gears, beefier syncros, stronger shift forks.
But the pressure plate is actually riveted to the flywheel? Or did i read something wrong?
"Project 69'"
1969 Chevrolet C/10, 1/2 ton, 2wd
-Boosted LS1?
-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)
-Posi 12-bolt(built w/eaton posi unit and richmond 3.73 gears)
-Disc brake and 5 lug swap
+little extras
^ ^ ^ It's a one piece unit that includes flywheel and all. A "modular" clutch.
well heres what i was doin today to make this little set back a set forward. You all remember this little jem i got off ebay right?
Fidanza light weight flywheel

Well i start out by drillin out the rivets on the clutch i got with the trans and seperated it apart.
Fidanza compared to the stock flywheel

and the fidanza and the Pressure plate and clutch

after all this work and about 2hrs later i realized that the @!#$in flywheel wasn't made to be used with the stock pressure plate. GOD @!#$ DAMN IT!!!... so much for a set forward. Theres about a 5mm gape between the plate and the clutch when all bolted together.

This is what the stock clutch set up looks like too:

This all bolts to the ring gear on the motor:

Also i ended up throwing my back out once again today... Awsome!
Also found out kinda why the trans went. when i went to pick up my new trans from a guy i found out he was a tech at a mitsu dealer so i showed him the trans. He said he's seen it before and its because of doing burn outs and one wheel peels at take off. He said the pin inside the diff gets overheated and over time becomes brittel and then it finally snaps and yea severything goes flying from there. Kinda kool to me lol sucked at the time but awsome now that i look at it lol.
Damn.... that really blows about the fly wheel... it was sexy too..
And this prbly meant the dude you bought it off of was always showing off for his friends and doing burn outs.. lawl..
So.... why did it cost 2500 to rebuild the tranny? and hope your back feels better so you can start working on it some more.
(btw... i have a back problem too. I have Spindolothesis(think thats how you spell it) with pars defect, and scoliosis. The pars defect part(which is the second or third stage of spindolo) means i have several vertabrae broken off on the sides. So i pain HORRI"BLy too EVERY day as well. Oh, btw, i'm 19. lawl)
Yea i emailed Spec to see if i can just get the Pressure plate from them and also posted a thing on 2gnt.com if anyone had jsut the plate. Well my buddy was qoated $1800 to rebuild his zx2 tranny he had so 2500 isn't really that far out there if you include removing the trans and installing it into labor.
Yea i have the back of a 60 year old at the age of 21 lol. Every doc i went too told me it looks like i was in a seriously car accident (but never was). My backs curved wrong and misalinged with my neck and tail bone. Thing that pisses me off is that I didn't toss it moving the tranny, or lifting the trans off the ground, or even working on the car itself!! I though my back out picking a god damn 10mm socket off the basement floor!!! Hows it go? F MY LIFE! So now im back to icing my back every 3-4 hours and takin pain killers with a back brace on.
Its....FML.... or the ever popular...l FML.com. lawl.
Yeah sounds a LOT like my back actually.. lol... the scoliosis makes it curve one way, the spindolothesis makes it curve the other way, which pinches nerves in my back and caused fractures and all that fun shtuff.
What you getting done on your car now? It going to be running soon? Or you going to wait and see about the pressure plate? And will you have to rivet it all back together? haha
well right now im gonna wait and see what i can do about the flywheel. if i cant get a pressure plate im probably just gonna fotget it and install the trans. I'd really like to get a LSD and install it but i really dont wanna rip the trans apart if it was newlly rebuilt. so right now im gonna wait till i replentish my bank account lol
Haha... yeah i hear you. Have to have the moolah to have the toys =P
well i found out that the flywheel is acutally made to bolt to the flex plate like a modualur but use a non modualer pressure plate and disk. SSSSoooo i found a guy that has a brand new stage 2 Spec for 300 shipped so as soon as i sell some parts or get paid from work i'll get tthat and get this trans back in. Also lookin for a LSD but their around 300 for the phantom grip so that might wait.
