Guys,
I have the chance to get a 94 Grand Am for $100. It needs a radiator and he blew the head gasket. Instead of swapping another 2.3 is it worth it to go the route of the 2.4 TC?
It would cost the same as getting another 2.3, and the SOHC is a pain to find.
Why not just swap to a HO?
It is going to be a budget piece not anything special. I have my Z24 going under for surgery now, looking at taking the oiling system out of the old 2.3 for my TC and drop a new engine in the grand am since the head is most likely shot.
STill probably cheaper/easier to just put a HO in it. I know I would rather have a 2.3 than a 2.4.
find a 2.3 in a scrap yard. IT will be cheaper.

grab a DOHC 2.3 - you'll go through a head gasket every 30k miles in that SOHC 2.3
Does the DOHC quad need a new computer when the new engine goes in? I have been on quad4forums but the write ups arent very specific about what would be needed. this car would be a flat out beater, I wouldnt even clean the floor mats in the thing, but for the money I figure a 500 total investment if this engine comes through.
