Question about the IS350
Wednesday, March 12, 2008 2:54 PM
Working at the local car wash I see A LOT of 08 Cadillac CTS'. And as much as they are growing on me I still kinda think they are a little "girlie" for a guy to be driving them. I LOVE the body style of them so I was thinking about other cars that would be a lot more "manly" so then it got me thinking about the new IS 350. I would assume within 2 years I'd love to own/lease to buy one of these.

Now, here is my question ... what does everybody think about them? The IS-F is WAY out of the question. Has anybody actually drove one of these? If so, what did you think? Where you impressed or just eeehh about the whole car? I know Lexus has an outstanding reputation in the US market and they are noted to be one of the most quiet auto makers (interior road noise). I'm just throwing it out there.

Oh, and IF I do get a IS 350, it will only be a summer car, the cavalier would have to be the winter beater. So, I'm not too concerned about winter driving.

^^ that doesnt make any sense. lexus is part of the Toyota Motor Corporation, not Nissan.

Check out my build thread!

Don't they have the 2jz motor like in the supra????

That would make more sense.

The IS 300 used an N/A 2jz engine, which was in a straight 6 format. The new IS 250 and IS 350 are new 2.5L and 3.5 V6s respectively.

A few people that live in my complex have them. I think they look sharp.

I don't like that you can't get AWD with the IS350. I really want an AWD CTS though. I love those cars. I don't think they are "girley" at all

My friend (Girl) has an IS350 and the car is pure sex!! You cant go wrong with it.
The Caddy isnt bad either. Go with the BMW 335.

Cavalier2001z24 - I know, I wasn't too excited that they don't get the AWD, I would have full intention of getting the IS 250 AWD if I were going to be doing some winter driving, but since I'm not it doesn't really bother me.

Thank you a BUNCH for the insight! I'll have to take one for a test drive. Another question did pop up into my head. I think that Toyota has a car design life span of 4 - 5 years, does anybody know about Lexus? I tried looking at wikipedia but nothing was said about the lifespan of the design.

Maybe I said the word, "girley" in a wrong aspect. It just seems to me that you can pay SO much for the CTS when another car that looks VERY similar with a lot more options and just about the same price, 44k for the Lexus, fully loaded, minues the dealer installs (ipod hook up and ground effects) and 50k for a fully loaded AWD CTS (it does include the special paint)

I was sooo pissed that this year at SEMA, the god damn monorail was backed up and we missed our slotted time to test drive the isf. They were letting you beat the piss out of it, there was even a doughnut area.

sory but if "this car is too girly, although i love it" is your reason for not buying a car you like, you might want to take a step back and check out your comfortability with your sexuality and self confidence. a car is a car and get what you like. someone has self esteem issues and doesnt want people to make fun of his car.

but in a non-ass hole reply, i am getting sick of every dirt bag teen-low 20's fag driving IS300s and acting like hot shots. i think the IS 300 and 350 kinda have a bad rep in my eye... caddys are always sexy and comfy

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

WTF, Butt sex is not like sticking your finger in a jelly donut. -Alexis

One good thing about this part of Canada, there aren't alot of people driving cars like these. So when you DO have one, you stand out.

The car is beautiful. I have only driven the previous gen, and I though it was amazing.

If I remember correctly, Lexus' product lifecycle is a bit longer than Toyota's.

Chris Foresta - I went to the local Lexus dealership yesterday night and they had a silver IS-F. And I guess Lexus has a VERY strict policy that you can not test drive it unless you are going to buy it, kinda odd if you ask me but good in another way.

JLAudioCavalier(1bad02cav) - Like I said before, I probably shouldn't have said, "girley" Yes, I do like the look of the 08 CTS, however I still can't justify paying $45,000 for a car that still has some un-painted plastic on it way to go GM. The ONLY thing I would do is MAYBE put 20s on it and no, it wont be bling bling 20s either.

StrippedCav98 (Now Quotable) - You lucky @!#$!! lol
