differential question
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 7:14 PM
are ring, pinion, and differential sets interchangable between GM 7.5" and 7.65" rear ends?

Andy

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

Its simple the 7.5" is a 7.5" ring gear and the 7.65" is a 7.65" ring gear. You can try if you want but they will not line up. You will just end up wasting your money.

-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)

-Disc brake and 5 lug swap

do they both fit into the same housing? if you take a full 7.5 ring, pinion, and differential, and replace it with all 7.65 parts, will you still have problems?

i dont know too many specifics. asking for a good friend of mine. he's running 3.73's with a T56 spinnin the engine to almost 9K rpm. he shifted out of 1st at almost 50 mph. he found some 4.56's (i think?) for a 7.65 rear end, but his is a 7.5

Used?

I'd never, ever, buy a set of used rear end parts.

Right on.

Regardless, I'd go with the correct size just for peace of mind ...
