The old busted. 90' Talon TSi AWD.

It was a great car and I put ALOT alot of work into the maint. of the car but I had a fender bender and decided on a new car instead of fixing it.
The new 95 TSi AWD, wanted one of these for a LONG time... since I was 16.. So I put down the excess of 3G's that was going to go into my cavalier motor and bought this car.
The new hottness, Before the springs

Nice buy. What do you have planned?

Probably planning to keep an eye on crank walk haha, im just giving you a hard time
I always wanted one.I am jealous.
Both look awesome and what are your plans for the new one.
Rememeber kids... spell check is your friend
I have never been into the looks of those cars. I never caught onto the craze... But I guess I head you folks that love em can make em fast cheap and easy.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

WTF, Butt sex is not like sticking your finger in a jelly donut. -Alexis
because i see this in EVERY dsm thread on the org...
just bustin ya nuts!
Please tell me your putting the 6 bolt from the first one into this one...
some nice 6 spoke, decent size polished lipped, bronze wheels would looke killer on there!!
Really i like them, but the questionable reliability always kept me away. But I'm always glad to see someone take interest in one that's willing to throw caution to the wind and deal with that issue and say F-it and enjoy the car.
The motors blowing and people not having the $$$ to fix them is the reason they are getting so rare. In 1997 you could sit at any red light in L.A. and see like 3 or 4 of them all day. Now when i see one it's very rare, such a shame. It's like probes and Geo Storm GSi's, there were aton of them made and sold...and there should be a ton of them left on the road. But becuase they had lousy reliability and were too expensive to repair...they pretty much went extinct.

DSM jokes definately getting a bit old.
Half the reliability issues I see on my local forums are the dip@!#$ 16 year old kids who buy them for cheap and attempt to work on/mod them

.
Not saying they're awesome, reliable cars, but that's just an observation of mine.

Definitley. Kids and just retards in general buy them with over 100k on them and immediatley start modding them.. upping the boost on a stock tired fuel system..forget the fact that the original timing belt is on the car and the cam seals are dumping oil all over it. 60K replacement is only a suggestion right. Until the T belt breaks or they lean out the motor and then its crybaby unreliable DSM talk. Not to mention DSMs make alot more power stock than our J's or Hondas which makes potential for things to break that much greater.
Anyway with that being said.. my only plans are to rebuild the front case of the motor, new seals, balance shaft belt, t-belt and all the pulleys/tensioners, Probably throw a new water pump on it as well. From there I will replace the random leaking oil seals I find. Only thing I have planned is probably a nice set of wheels.
Cant do to much because I have to get the cav out of the garage this summer lol

haha its funny how jbody people throw up crankwalk jokes left and right but if someone makes jokes about how jbodys are made @!#$ty you get all kinds of @!#$ for it haha. nice cars though man, they look clean.

i have been around j bodys along time, seen some/been part of/ rode in some of the fastest ones to grace this site, and had a boosted one myself that i got rid of last summer and couldnt appauld your decision enough!. Not saying j bodys cant be made fast , i still own one(02 ls sport) so i am not talking crap about them.
I help my brother with his dsm, it is just too easy to make proven power. There are many upon many sites out there to go step by step by on how to make power.
do it right the first time is the best advise you can have with a DSM, stay up on the proper maintence, dont cheap out and you will have a real fun & fast car.
Like with my bros car, he does his homework, dont have as$ stuff and it has rewarded him great. Drove 250miles, put down 400awhp, drove 250 miles back. Then drove a hour to the track , best of 3 runs 12.3 @118mph for the first time ever on a track on street tires. All this on pump gas (e85), little tuning(dsm link) and low boost .
DSMlink forums seems to have all the well knowledgable people.
Anyways, , nice car for sure... good luck and do your homework and mod wisely and you will be good to go.

Hehe, I am still going to build my cavaliers motor

Its just going to be delayed a little longer haha.
But you are absolutley correct jake, proper maint. is the key to owning ANY car DSM or not and thanks for your post/info! I love the 2g but I am not going to build it at all till after my cavalier is out of storage.

Lol, so true. The 1G is hardly a pantywagon
fortune cookie say: better a delay than a disaster
I want a nice Red 97+ GSX 5 speed. I hope I can find one when I pick up a better job, I'd be all over it. I don't care how much work they are, they're fun to drive. And a little work on them goes quite a ways. I'm still stuck in my 98 Talon ESi tho. @!#$ stupid 17 year old decision crap.

Too anxious for the looks. Girls don't understand turbo half the time anyway.

Car looks good enough.

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
nice pick up man, i like the color on both cars, keep us updated on the mods.
i hate to jack this thread, but kyle do you have to sound like a dick on every thread you post on. just wondering.

Thanks guys!

ill be the newb to ask what "crank walk" is... might as well learn some more when im here... flame me if you must...
Google wins

And in an editing fashion to decide not to be completely unrelated to the topic... nice pick up. I think I prefer the look of the 2g eclipses to the talons though, but a nice set of rims might help sway my opinion
I wish J's came with AWD
Enjoy the car, and don't wreck it
