I've got an 89 GT and i know i need new struts and shocks/springs so i was just wondering what everyone would reccomend. I definately want to add some cornering ability to it, but i don't know if just a performance shock/strut/spring package will be enough to make a difference. I don't really know alot about suspension work so i figured i'd ask around. Thanks for any insight on the matter.
Why do they call it a love seat when its so hard to make love on?
There is a full Koni suspension at the junkyard down the street. It probably wouldn't be more than $150+shipping. Let me know if you're REALLY interested. (FYI, Koni = the shiz

)

i'm assuming its used but thats not really the issue...i'm assuming its shocks/struts/springs and yes from what i've been seeing thats one hell of a deal. I was just inquiring if just upgrading these components would suffice or if these are just things you would change out with new control arms and other things like that. I guess i wanna know if its worth my time just to upgrade these items. and OHV, if you have the free time and wanna check into it i am looking.

Depends on how much handling you want.

I want better than stock but i don't have to outhandle any evos or anything. I want a little bit better handling but not have to drop a ton of money into it.

I'm going Wednesday; if they are still there I'll pick them up. If you don't want them, I know I won't have trouble finding someone else lol.

Sorry, after I pulled the rears I found that one of the struts was blown, so it wasn't worth finishing the fronts.

Maximum Motorsports makes the best suspension packages & parts IMO. Pricey, but worth it. I plan on adding a full spring / shock / strut / control arm package to my 98 Cobra when I have a few bucks. If you just want beefy shocks & struts then Koni or Tokico Illuminas work great. Bilsteins are way too much cash unless you're taking this on a road course every weekend in the summer.
I also have been in Fox chassis cars with KYB GR-2 and those held up well for a slightly better than OE replacement.
Check out the packages at

Hope this helps.
Thanks anyway OHV; i appreciate you checking things out to make sure they were kosher before just sayin "Hey, heres your blown suspension." And Daryl, i checked out those packages and they are amazing. I'm looking for best bang for my buck more or less so the illumina looks to be my best bet. I saw some Konis on ebay for a decent price so i might go with those also. I think my biggest question is am i really gonna see a difference with just shocks/struts/springs. Thanks again to everyone for any help on this subject

The difference will hit you like a lead sled dropped from a passing Concorde.
