was there ever a 5 speed grand am newer than 2000 without the eco in it like a v6 also what manual tranies would hook up to a 2nd gen 3800 series v6 any help would be great
From what I understand, no 3400 in the GA's ever came with a manual. Only the 2.4's/Eco's. Although, a 2.2/2200 5 speed transmission will fit.

I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
Nope. There was never a Grand Am V6 5spd, unfortunately.
It can be made, but not easily.
No N-Body 99-05 with a V6 came with a 5spd from the factory that I'm aware of.
im planging on puting a 3.8 v6 in a grand am gt 2dr and twin turbo it with a 5 or 6 spd tranny i want it to be a 2000 and up ga
youll prob be better off using a auto trans
unless you can find a old 284 from the lumina z34 or grand prix with the 3400 twin cam motors from the early 90's

why is that? i figure that if a 3.8 can handel a sc than why not a twin turbo set up?
^^^ Werd.
If you're going to do that kind of thing, I want to see the finished product.
The 3800 oughtta go in without a lot of problems and I'm assuming you're going to use a custom ECU. Turbos, I don't know.

awesome i want to put a supercharged ls7 in my audi
It CAN be done, but it won't be an easy swap.
Personally, if it were my dime, I'd go for a Northstar engine & trans, not bother with the Forced Induction and pop on a CAI and make the exhaust a true dual exhaust.
i figure that it would be a pretty easy swap and if i discover that it would be way too hard than id just put the TT in a 1997 grand prix gt 2dr that would prbaly be the best and easy way i just to get a manual trannie that will fit i asume other than the custom fabbing that would have to be done it would be pretty easy and fast
why twin turbo? you can make just as much (if not more) power with a single turbo that's properly sized. not just that, single turbo manifolds are available for the 3800. also, a single turbo setup should pose less tuning problems and have more linear power delivery.
btw... i'm pretty sure he meant the transmission from the lumina z34 that had the 3.4 dohc motor (not the motor iteslf)
Im planning out 3800 turbocharged / G6 6spd setup for my fiero

With corvette 12" breaks of course
im going twin turbo to reduse the turbo lag in the midrange id have one turbo feeding a bigger turbo. the smaller tubo will have the bov he will prevent the turbo from over spooling
<EDIT>
im going twin turbo to reduse the turbo lag in the midrange id have one turbo feeding a bigger turbo to feed enough cfm at the touch of the gas. the smaller turbo will have the wastegate (i think thats what they are) that will prevent the turbo from over spooling. im hopeing that the swap will be realy easy and not cost a shiza amount of money and time
with a properly sized turbo, you will have minimal lag. i didn't say strap on the biggest turbo you have an use only 500 rpm in the rev range.
if you look at most factory twin turbo cars that are making big power, 98% of them have ditched the twin turbo setup in favor of a single turbo. you're probably going to be looking at custom manifolds for a twin setup too so i don't know how successful you will be avoiding the "shiza amount of money" spent
i know people that have a machine shop that will "sponser" me in doing all the metal work so im good there but im mostley worring about the ecu and the trannie
if you can deal with an auto, the grand prix guys have a few built options. as for the ecu, programs like hptuners and DHP are avail that will handle the tuning aspects

you COULD, but it would have to only be a pre-92 GA with the 3.0L engine (destroked 3.8L)
