I am just not feeling the Camaro. Looks more like a luxuary car instead of a sports car. I was always under the impression that the Camaro was the answer to Ford's Mustang. Guess GM is changing it's mind about that.
On another note, I do like that photoshopped pic of the Trans Am. Now there is a sports car.

Are you seriously telling me that you don't see links to downlaod videos of the Camaro there is 2 of them on that page. They are right under the Buick Enclave and there is even a video of the Pontiac Solstice GXP.

Sorry man I'm at work and the new system we have is linked thru some central whatever and it won't let me open the files cause it says I have to save them first and it won't let me. I was able to see the interview with Lutz unfortunatly no speakers so I couldn't get anything more then quick glimpses of it. Oh well I'll have to try at home tonight.

Also have you heard of GMTV? I have posted it a couple of times before but I don't know if others have actually seen it. This link should work http://gmtv.feedroom.com/iframeset.jsp?ord=865318

I've heard of it. But I must confess I've yet to check it out. With no sound TV just isn't the same.

mr goodwrench, you are correct..the rear quarter panels are the ONLY metal panels on the car...everything else is plastic..hood,nose, fenders, doors, truck, tail, and rear bumper..

Hey ! Who said hide away headlights are stupid ? Then you obviously do not remember the 67-69 RS Camaros front end as that is the kind I'm refering to. NOT like those on a Corvette. Like I said if GM wants to do a retro Camaro fine, but they should

those are the exact one im talking about not the corvette ones. my dad had a 68 rs w/hide aways, 327 auto.

Wait, the roof was steel too right ? Sounds like those things should weigh no more then a Cavi. with as much plastic as they were made of.

It is a hatchback too, that really does not help in the overall weight in any car.

You know something...

When in 2003 I was working on my friends 99 Formula drivers window I looked at the door and the whole door is made of composite material.
It is not like Saturn where there is a steel frame. My friend and I looked at each other and said this is scary for a side impact crash. There is a steel tube, but the attachment was not to kosher for my likings.
The upside, there was crash test conducted once and showed side impact with pretty good results. Go figure.

I am all for polymer panels, but in the way how Saturn did it.

I thought GM was getting rid of the impact resistant Saturns in favor of steel panels. Was I misinformed ?

Unfortunately they are. Why?

Better fit and finish as the polymer needs space to expand in hot climates. Also since Saturn is going generic GM, it is more cost effective to just do one version of the same car and not one with polymer panels and the other with steel panels.

But they are actualy a good idea! I can't believe they expand and contract that much more then steel would. I do believe its more for cost cutting tho as the panels could be
spread out across the other divisions.

he sold it for 5,000 in 1988. it was either the maro or the 72 el camino w/350 300hp.
needless to say the camino is in the front yard rusting away.

This is why I'm keeping my Saturn forever.. Polymer panels have already saved me once so far..
