The bracket that supports the weight of the exhaust popped off and needs to be welded on. The entire exhaust is, if I understand the mechanic correct, being supporteded by the flexpipe. Unfortunately, they said they don't do welding. So I have to find an exhaust shop. I have a full schedule this week with school ... summer's comming up and every professor is overloading me. I wondering how long it could waite. Or is this something to like take the day off immediately and get fixed. I can't tell how long it's been hanging like this.
you do not want the entire weight of the exhaust on that flex coupler/pipe,

thats not true. i have a stock 2.4 cat back exhaust in my garage right now and it has 2 supports on it
Yea, there should be one hanger/mount between the downpipe and cat, and another one near the muffler at the back of the car.
Correct you don't have only one bracket sounds like he was tryin to pull a fast one

If you need to drive the car, go underneath with some wire, or a hanger or someting and make a temporary hanger for the exhaust, so the weight isnt on the flex pipe. -- It will hold for a while then, I ran that way for maybe 3 months, and it could have held on longer.
all you need is a new muffler hanger. i suggest the one from the dealer. there like $8 more then the crappy tire one. but the dealer one fits better. it should take about 20 min to change it.
i drove for about a week with no muffler strap, could have gone longer but it bouncing off the floor drove me nuts. like someone else said use a coat hanger, it will last until you can replace the strap.
