don't do the z3 fenders. go with the f1's and or the stock ones. z3's are over done and unoriginal at this point

swap the engine. look towards a 3400 supercharged and really blow people away with that.

thats why i didnt specify the wheels ive looked at most of the available eurathane body kits and i really only like a handful... i dont like any backends because they all seem to stick out or have to much going on... the F1 fenders are also a choice to look into... anybody used the X1 fenders... i do like the stock fenders as well, but i suppose if i get them painted along with the rest of the parts i could swap em out whenever i feel like a switch...? 3400 supercharged eh? that would surprise my friend and his old alero... id have the same engine as he does... lol

So in 3 years you can put $21,000 into your car?

And in the end what are you left with... a car worth $3000, maybe.

Tell ya what... I have a 2000 Cavalier, turbo, tons of good stuff, send me $10k and its yours.

i dont know... i dont plan on using this car as a daily driver.. im planning on keeping it around for shows and stuff... if im going to put money into it, im not going to half ass it...

maybe not even 21000... i might spread it out farther than three years... and im not planning on maxing out the budget for each part... im going to be installing most parts myself and im leaving myself plenty of breathing room... im going to do the exterior first, interior second, and enginework last... i want to keep this car around to do shows with my friends cars, and to prove to everybody in my hometown that cavaliers can look really good if you fix them up right... idk this is just a preliminary idea, its bound to change as you guys said... im going to try and keep it under 15K for the whole thing...

You have it all backwards...

You do engine first, then interior, then exterior.

Why?

Engine:
Pulling the engine and transmission will screw up the engine bay paint.
Depending on how crazy you go, you'll be in the engine a lot for a while, which will mean leaning over your fenders and removing the bumper a lot, this will probably screw up paint in those spots if it is going to be show quality.

Interior:
All the gauges and stuff for your engine have to go somewhere, in a show car, this stuff is usually fiberglassed in. Adding gauges after you make a show interior will probably look very out of place. You'll also be pulling parts out of and putting parts into the car on a regular basis, and this may screw up the paint on the door jams.

Exterior:
After everything you've done that could screw up the paint is done, you then get the car painted, including door jams and engine bay.

backwards... hmmm lol good point. im so confused right now... i just want to have a show car in my garage... something that i can put effort into.. something most people wont expect. i dont plan on anything crazy for the engine... maybe just the 2.2 eco swap so i have the eco... and then chrome it out, add a few goodies...
so maybe ill just do that and keep the cost down a bit... either way i will be doing this. not 21K worth but it will look the way i have always wanted it too...
