Hi ppl,
I'm looking for an economic short intake with K&N filter for my 96 Cavy 2.2 OHV M/T. At Ebay, the auctions for my engine are few. Extending the search, there are more intakes for 2.2 non ecotec engines (98-02)... and looks similar!
Are there differences between both? or it's just my imagination?
For Manual Transmission... do I need something else?
Thanks for your feedback
It's a difference in TB position. On your engine it faces forward above the head. On the newer ones it faces up behind the head. Here's the intake I use. eBay sells cheap intakes that work really well, but you'll need to buy a K&N if you don't want to use the filter that comes with the kits. Check my registry and you'll see a couple pics of my car's intake. It cost about $30 to do, it's really easy.
Wow... thank you so much, first time I see a clear picture of a 95-97 engine bay with an intake!
You modified it to be a little longer, isn't it?
btw, the intakes comes with 2 vacuum lines... we only need to use one... and the other is... for the MAF Sensor?
Thanks again
No problem. Always glad to help a newbie. I found that the intake was a bit short, so much as that the air filter sat directly above the transmission. Not only did it just look goofy as hell, it also didn't clear the hood. To resolve this, I took a 6" piece of 3" exhaust pipe and connected it using a curved piece of the stock intake tube. It was the perfect angle so that I was able to clear the hood. As far as the vacuum fittings, I really don't know why there's two of them. I think it's a generic intake that can fit various engines. I used the one, obviously, for the PCV. The other I cut off, and drilled the weld out to a 5/8" hole and that's where the IAT sensor now sits. Remember, the LN2 doesn't use a MAF sensor.
That was VERY CLEAR!!!! ... enough, enough...!!!
Thank you so much!
