I take it you don't do care shows do you?

if your engine is closed you get 0 points under it. Usually they engine is part of it, manly how clean the engine bay is and its its modded.... you close the hood you lose all posible points for that..... if you lose that many points you do not win car shows

edit - BTW I can't tell if that was surpossed to be sarcasm or if your serious, but I'm leaning towards sarcasm (although I have seen cars pushed into shows with the engine missing, just to show off the body work)

LOL ok, online its hard to tell if its sarcasm or not.... but there is absolutely no reason that car should have beat Big Poppa and the fact that it doesn't have an engine... thats liek adding insult to injury LOL

yeah thats no sh!t. and too be honest, it shouldnt matter weather or not if the judge LIKES a car a show... it should be how clean and well maintained/effectivly put together etc etc etc.....

Roobbbbbbbbbbbeeeeeddddddd. I didnt even bother doing a walk-around the apparent '1rst place' J.. and the 2nd place car was heavily modified but kinda tasteless in a lot of areas.. cut-and-paste style. Didn't really 'flow'.. if you get what I'm saying.

Perhaps better educated judges would then understand exactly the effort put into yours. You didn't mod your car, you @!#$ sculpted and built your lines from SCRATCH. Thats the art that seemed to go unappreciated. But hey, its Importfest.. so just get ready to take home best J/domestic come Performance World. I'd be willing to bet you'll do well.. ..even though I'll be competing against you.. haha. I'd begrudgingly take 1rst then, but hey, 2nd is still good.. Haha.

Keep up the great work man.

Yeah, when they called my name for 3rd place I was very shocked to say the least. In all honestly who cares right...but I was shocked to hear my name for 3rd... IDK. I thought having a one off widebody, interior, c/f trunk, front end and tail light conversion was looking good, but IDK what happened to be honest. I've had this happen to me before and I'm sure others have had it happen to them too. After a little while you shrug it off your shoulders and move on with your day.

the 2nd gen did have his hood open, it was actually slanted to one side just like the trunk is slanted he had the car very nicely done I must say.

My sister was there and hunted down the judge LOL. she asked how they judged my car. The guy who judged it said due to audio and engine...well engine yeah, I dont have much; ceramic coated pacesetter headers, 2.25" stainless Y pipe exhaust, high flow catalytic converter, magnaflow resignator, and dual mufflers, aem intake, engine mounts...but the engine bay was just painted and looked clean at least.... In terms of audio, maybe he didnt look in my back seat? I am pretty sure there were 4 x 12" subs, 2 amps, and 6 speakers in the car...but again...IDK what happened.

I don't care though, I got out to the show scene finally and seeing everyones face pop in disbelief it is a sunfire was priceless...A lot of people said to me they don't like domestics, but I had the nicest one there and that meant a lot to hear after all the work I put into her. Getting back into the scene was a great feeling and a 3rd or 1st place trophy isn't anything to worry about.

Hopefully I get those shots the photographer took of the car shortly too

oh yes Justin...do you have the pics with the models?

Maty: it was at the Toronto Metro Convension Center this time around...looks like it will be there from now on after what the DJ was saying at the end of the show...IDK I loved the dome so much more.

Vince-No matter what all trophy's are plastic. No worries, i have had @!#$ like that happen. I got 2nd before in a show for best sport compact, car that i got beat by was a stock 2006 Vette.

that 3rd gen didnt deserve first place. kick ass paint quality or not, it has a bolt on body kit, bolt on lambos and doesnt look too impressive to me at all... you literaly built yours from scratch for the most part. thats rediculous. the 2nd gen looks to have some nice stuff, a little tacky, but the work quality looks good and the mods seem to be up there... i dunno.. you and the 2nd gen placing makes sense to me, the purple 3rd gen taking first... or even placing at all (although i dont see what else you guys competed against) just doesnt quite make any sense to me.

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

thats what i like hearing more then everything. its nice to know that if i make it up there next year vince i should beat your car though cause apparently flames are better then custom widebody lol.

couple of things

just because a hood is closed doesnt mean he lost all points in that category. that was just one picture taken over a weekend, all he needed to do was open the hood when the judges were looking at his car.

as far as who one. its hard to say not knowing what the emphasis was on. its hard to see flaws on the internet and when it comes down to it a widebody isnt going to gain you a ton of points at some shows. a standard body car with no flaws can get more points then a widebody car with a few flaws (not saying yorus is flawed vince) honestly it could have come down to all three cars being within a point or two of each other. me and a buddy compete together all the time sometimes hes in wild sometimes im in wild sometimes i'll place and he wont. ive taken home best of awards and he's placed at a show i didnt place at. there is subjectivity involved. judges could have been someone that just thought vinces car was to much for his taste and preferred the cleaner lines of the other cars etc. just as anything you can't really judge car shows based on 1 car show. im sure vince will be taking home allot of first place and best of awards next year.

has nothing to do with hood closed/open they ask you to open it for judging, personally it would of been nice if the judge actually took my score sheet in

to be honest, Kris who took first place has a pretty slick car. that one pic doesnt quite show all he has done. shouldnt have beat Vince IMO, but dont judge just by that 1 picture. its still a pretty sick J

Beautiful as usual! I see the judges up there are just as blind as the ones here ,which makes me feel a little better. Like otheres said next year you will kill it at every show. Keep up the amazing work.

afterlooking through his cardomain... there is nothign special about that car, its cookie cutter cavalier cover in aftermarket off the shelf bolt on parts with a nice paint job. That thing is FAR from being a standout, it looks liek every other 3rd gen you typically see at car shows.

okay, unless those two cars have something AMAZING under the hoods, damn Vince you DEFINATLY got robbed...

shouldn't have even been close??? compare the list of mods? I mean COME ON PEOPLE, who the hell was judgin, a blind man?

I know it doesnt matter in the end...

but those judges are @!#$ retarded.

Vince, unbelievable work. Props man..... endless props..

I've seen both in person,l they are definitely nice cars, so can't knock them, the pic of the 1st place car doesn't do it justice.

I do believe Vince was robbed, but like Vince said, car show's should really be about winning, but having a good time and enjoying being around other tuners, getting ideas, etc. etc.

The 2nd place car I think was in the Keisha Chante music video if I remember correctly.

exactly if we built these cars for trophies it would be pretty retarded I could have bought a whole @!#$ load of $20 trophies for time and $ invested, also if anyone has pictures of my car from the show that you can actually see the car can they post them or send them to me

thanks

exactly...trophies...pfft. Honestly I met a lot of new faces, finally got to meet mr. Joey Baggs himself (that was one crazy hot dog stand womane...and those stupid pigeons lol), and I got to check out some hot ass cars at the show. We're all J's and friends, and meeting new people and changing peoples opinions on domestics is what I love about the show scene and the Sunfire.

Justin sent me a few pics of some models at my car, I'll re-size and post them up in a little while.

Justin bud, how was the drive home ? .
