Exactly what I was thinking. Not everyone has mommy and daddy's money to put into their cars like some of the people here. It looks to me like this guy is doing his own work on a budget. I have more respect for that than I do for any of those who payed for others to do all the work to their cars. My car is multicolored and partly primed at the moment too because I do all the work myself on a very tight budget. Would you like for me to post pics of it so you can feel even more ashamed?

hmmm lets see hes working on a budget yet you give him crap because his budget doesnt live up to your standards?

does that mean that my car and what I have done not reach your all mighty standards?
does me not having the time or money to get it all done at once offend you?

I did all my own work and know the biggest thing about doing your own work is you can only do it WHEN TIME AND MONEY ALLOWS.

You know what on second thought your right every single car here that wasnt finished the same day it was started is horrible I see the light im sorry for ever doubting you.

Alright, I will give you guys bashing it one thing. A second look at those pictures, and I see that they primed the weather stripping, as well as part of their door trim. Let's hope they learn from that mistake and tape better next time.

I still give them the benefit of the doubt that they are just getting things done as they have the time and money. It took me a few weeks to get my whole car in primer, because I work a ton of hours, and barely have any time. I literally did one or two body panels a day on my days off. I was also installing a Z kit at the time, which was why I was going primer to begin with (kit was from two different color cars, neither of which matched my car )

I hope this person actually joins the org and posts some progress pics. Although if they are thinking of joining, this thread could have made them lose interest.

yup. same here.

Although I just finished the primer work on both front fenders about 1/2 hour ago. So now the bumper and fenders match. lol. Still have a lot left to do, but like many here, I am doing everything my self, with my money, and my time. Plus today I am going to be fighting rain and trying to get spray time while the suns out, and car is dry.

I think he should have painted it, dropped it, rims, and put Toyo tails on it so it could look like every other car on this site.

Other then lowering the car, and priming the whole car instead of the whole car is dumb. I know not everyone has the money to do that, but why leave one white fender not primered when everything eles is primer or body color? "wtf

If the fenders are straight there is no point in priming them quite yet. He most likely repaired damage on the quarter panels and primered them to protect any filler work/bare metal. When a panel has no damage there is a lot less time involved, pretty much a scuff and shoot. If done right anything primed in spots is temporary, and once the car is ready to be sprayed the whole car would be primed as a hole, and that's when the fenders would be done.

Nothing "dumb" at all about it.

My buddy Gregg's car is fully primered down the sides right now until he has booth time next week, being it's his only car he is forced to drive it looking like @!#$....but eh, when done it'll look better than the majority of the cars around here.

Not saying that car will, but I've seen way worse!

Look at all of the chips in the primer on the front bumper. I'm thinking she's sat in brown for awhile now.

Well since we are sharing pics of our multicolored cars here's mine with mismatched fenders and an unpainted bumper (I'm driving it like that daily ):

Who'd want to drive a freshly painted car in nasty disgusting snow/salt??? Not I! With that being said, I think the bird poo on the trunk gives it a bit of sex-appeal...don't you think? haaaaa. But I am rather much disgusted with the carts in the parking spots. lol. Put an engine in them at least!

It looks pretty finished to me, the body kit has obviously been in primer and on the car long enough to get a bunch of scuffs and scratches in it. How many months does it take to test fit a body kit prior to paint, seriously? The car looks like @!#$, i still agree 100% with the post starter.

Cars that drive around looking like that give us all a bad name.

Well you and the original poster both live in Michigan. If you don't like that it's taking him a while to get his car finished then why don't you guys track him down and offer to help him out?

Thank you skills...

If you saw this car in person. you can def tell that this car has been like this for a LONG time. Nothing lines up, its rusting out it has GTS tailshades that are pop rivited on and rusting out also. It was primered with a can!! I don't really think this person has any intent on even trying to finish it... It would be a waste of time...

And for those of you who have half finished cars... im not ragging on your car... Look at your guy's car, like "shadowfire" and "full cav effect". It looks 100% better than this guys unfinished.

Not directed completely towards u ecoenvy and im not trying to start anything with you. but who cares. its their car let them deal with it. u dont have to drive around in it so who cares. maybe it was their project car then all the sudden family or a life emergency came up and they couldnt finish it. and i think its bull@!#$ when people say that a certain car gives us a bad name.. well it might put a nasty taste in someones mouth for a bit but i dont know anyone that would be like all cavaliers are gay and ugly cuz i saw this one in a parking lot one time.. people who bitch and complain about someone others car is what really gives a bad appearance to a certain group.. who cares.. when people would try to start @!#$ with me cuz my @!#$ wasnt painted or would try to rag on my car i'd just say if its such a big deal for you to @!#$ care about then u pay for it. if not shut up. if its such a hideous thing why waste your time taking a picture? posting it? just see it, make ur judgement and get on with your life. there is no way that car can ruin a platform or that there was any reason for someone to post someone elses car and say stupid @!#$ about it cuz its not their taste, or it doesnt look how you think all cars should look. body work is a process, sometimes a really long process for those short on money, or dealing with other issues after they started.. for all you know that guy coulda been doing that and his wife die... or his house get burnt down.. and instead of continuing on it like you think he should of and get it painted, he decided to put his life first.. and get things situated..omg.. he has a life!

again not really directed at u ecoenvy, plenty of people make these stupid posts and its ridiculous..

I like the primer on the rear 1/4 window molding, and also the primerd rear quarter panel with RUST HOLES near the bumper. That car was my 16 year old cousins car last summer, it was a LOST CAUSE so he sold it, it looks like this person changed the color of the primer and drove it in the winter on the SALT COVERED roads.

This car if you seen it in person needs THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS worth of work to make it right. So yeah, it's a piece and not worth sinking money into.

Re: Im ashamed to have saw this today...

Seriously, how can you primer a part of a car then drive it around and mess up the primer. Letting it get rained on,washing it, road residue and call it "WORK IN PROGRESS"? It is a STEP BACKWARDS. You'll end up redoing the primer in the end. If you can't find time to do it right the first time, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO FIND TIME TO DO IT OVER?

If you car is a "WORK IN PROGRESS", then drive another car while your working on it. Or better yet, Leave your bodykit off the car till painted to avoid damaging it before paint. What is wrong with stock bumpers and side skirts till you can afford to paint?

Re: Im ashamed to have saw this today...

Up around my area, specifically Worhington, MN there is a whole platoon of half ass, half painted, rusty, non matching body kits rolling around. I say that it is safe to make fun of them when...

(True stories and experiences)

the body kit is attached by dry wall screws
when the body kit has two different kinds of side skirts
when the body kit is accompanied by major rust on the trunk or the hood or the fenders
when the intercooler in the half attached front bumper is simply an intercooler with blue coozies on each end pretending to be functional
when the only other mod associated with the half assed body kit in primer or other colors is a fart can

There are all other kinds of disgraces rolling around. The truth is that there are a lot of true "Ricers" out there. And it makes me mad that people look at that and automatically assume all car guys and teenage people that own cars are like that. And don't get me wrong, I give respect where respect is due. I totally agree with working on your daily driver and sometimes things take time. But when you see something rolling around for months and months in horrible condition ya kinda have to think that they are either, A: Not smart enough to realize that they might not have enough money to do such a mod, or B: They are satisfied with their work.

Woah im not against anyone. So you wanted to waste your time and take a picture of that car. Great. Im not the bad guy who started this. lol. Dont make me look bad please Skilz. Thats my opinion. I mean, you don't even know if its finished. If it is "finished" then WOW. But who would do all that and not get it done. Probably the owner had things going on in life that he/she had to stop working on it and unfortunately thats the way he/she had to keep it (sadly). But as one said....why don't you guys go over there and help him out with the work.

Anyway I wish the driver the best. I don't think its nice to take a pic of someones car, post up here and say omg nasty. Something like this has been done before recently and the owner did sign up and put the smack down on the creator. So think before you speak/act. You never know if he/she saw you taking pictures, got your license plate, knew the 411 on how to track your plates, and do something nasty to your car. Hencely--think before you act. I don't have anything against you Eco--I love your car, im just sayin' if you don't know the down low, then don't go there. Ciao!!

You can drive a car in primer and let it get rained on with out doing any damage.

Primer does absorb, but as long as its sealed its fine.

Now, if they took it to bare metal, then shot some sanding primer (not primer sealer) yeah, your going to 'cause problems. But if you are spraying primer over a old paint job sanded down than it will not 'cause any problems. Just make sure that if you go to deep and show metal, to seal it....

thanks for making me feel little. I don't post a lot but seeing someone working hard being bashed makes me feel like you don't work for your own stuff. I am military, low rank with a family and many bills. I do what I can, when I can (mainly in tax time). it sux to be on a budget but we live with it, and I do what I like when I can...think about it. it's hard to be poor or even middle class.money gets tight quick. plus if everyone shot paint every time we change something to the exterior of the car we would waste more money on paint then on parts.
