maybe a carbon fiber plate would look nice even, get some vinyl with a name printed on it, paint it, and remove the vinyl lettering later on...just one idea i had.

perfect. end of discussion.

and i can see how not having more carbon on the dash would flow alright. the only other suggestion i could make about the dash and carbon would be to have the piece by the windshield in carbon. dont know its real name, but its the piece thats separate on the sunfire dash and that always cracks on the cav dash. even though youve already molded it onto your main dash top, i think it would flow onto your carbon door panel tops and carbon A pillars really well.

progress is amazing man. keep on truckin....itll be done soon enough

when i first saw the dash out side of the car i thought it was good work but it wouldn't flow right in the car. now that i actually see it in the car it looks really good. can't wait to see more progress.

Okay...just spent nearly 7 hours in the garage today working on this dash...I'm back to where I wanted to be. Dash is sanded smooth with 220 gritt sandpaper and the next stage is some glazzing putty and I'm on my way to primer.

The t.vs are functional and everything lines up nicely again. I have the dash bolted in place and she's nice and tight

here are some new updated pictures:

I don't have my video sources connected, but the screens do have a nice blue video screen

I need to get the gauges wired up, dash painted and then finish the install. I'm really looking forward to this dashboard being completed.

Well...ended up waking up at 1:15 today...damn that felt good to sleep in .

after geting ready I went into the garage and spent some time removing the dash and covering it with some spot and glazzing putty to fill in the sanding lines and any pin holes left behind.

I will start the high gritt sanding process later on. I have to head out to work in a bit...so hopefully Sunday night I can get more progress pics done.

But right now I've been debating about painting...I know I'm painting the dash blue, but I'm thinking about the whole interior...I would like to add some airbrushing to it (I borrowed my buddy's air brushing kit). Nothing to extreme really, just some different shades of blues (kind of like the Evil Z (but his was green)). Any ideas on some clean air brushing ideas? I might scrap that idea all together and forget about the airbrushing...but a nice little touch would set the interior off nicely I think.

anywho...some more pictures from today:

Now...another question I have for everyone....my switches...I have 8 toggle switches...one for the lights in the rear seat set up, one for the under dash neons, one for the neons in my air vents, 2 switches to power the tvs, one for the traction control, and so forth...

Now...where should I mount the swtiches?....

My dad had an interesting idea...since I have air ride now, I have a switch box...my dad thought about what if I make a small scale switch box like the air ride one for my toggle switches?...Thats one idea that's kicking around in my head. I would like to put them in my arm rest...but my climate controls go there...maybe I can do something under the arm rest lid itself perhaps...any input is more than welcome

i say mount the switches under the main TV. space them out evenly with 4 in a row. putting any switches with covers on the ends, and the others to fallow after

Look really nice so fare! now we need to see some photoshops of it painted!

All i can say is thats freakin awesome... Wish i had that kind of fiberglassing skills.. Maybe someday

i say keep the switches off the dash, too many times ive seen good instals look bad by just having to much going on. hide the switches somewhere. not a fan of the switchbox idea. i dont even like air ride switchboxes. just doesnt fit in they just look out of place to me personally. i say maybe mount them in the center console area behind a piece of black plexi that you can slide the plexi back and have a nice switch layout.

under the console lid? hidden, and still custom.

Or fab a pull out "box" using a ash try. Something that will mount flush into the dash, can stay somewhat hidden, and BOOM! Slide out, engage switches, close.

19sunfire99: Thanks man. If you start off with some projects and keep working with fiberglass you learn alot from it. Give it some time and you can work well with glass too. I've been working with fiberglass for 3 years now. It really isn't that long at all...but each time I work with it I learn something new.

Jason: yeah, im not a fan of having them shown on the dash either. I'm still iffy really.

Full Cav Effect: I do like under the console lid...I'll think of something I guess...haha. I also do like your "hidden" idea

Anywho...guess who got som wet sanding done???!!!

I will continue to wet sand with high gritt sandpaper..I started off with 320 wet sand...and I will be working my way up from there.

Have you thought about mounting your switches in the headliner at all? That would get them up and out of the way and in between the visors the headliner drops down just enough to allow for the wiring and grommet to clear the roof. It actually works out really well its just a question of it thats the look you want or not?

^ that's a pretty cool idea...Again....gota draw up some stuff once again now. haha

I know this is way different than what you want but I did this in my mustang

yours would probably be more subtle but you can use a simple piece of lexan of the face so its removeable for maintenance and wire/fuse changing then have the housing be permanent. Just a though?
