wow... this thread is the most ridiculous waste of bandwidth ever. how many threads are there going to be in which we suck the balls of the 1000+/month posters and picture whores... whats sad is that there are sooo many nice J's out there that have never posted a single picture on this site... and thus are nobodys in the J scene. there are cars on this site that have nothing more than a lip kit and 17s but post 20 pics of their ride ever week and manage to get into the JOTM and "most popular ride" threads. wow you people are pathetic. whipe the @!#$ off your lips. and those of you posting pics of your own ride... humble yourselves a bit. The absolute cleanest and nicely done J's ive ever seen in person are David Ingram's cavalier (WHITECAVY) and Jason Carrols sunfire (sndsgood)... and yet neither one has a single mention in 8 pages of this thread, despite there regular activity on this site and in the J scene.... because they dont flaunt their rides or post 50 pics of their car every week.

I understand what your saying but there are a couple things I wanted to point out. Being a picture whore is fine. That's what the Photos & Media forum is. Some consider me one...I don't care. I want the people to know what I'm up to cause some people are interested and like my car which is cool. If people choose not to post their pictures, that's their choice. People like what they see, not what they can't see.

Some people do suck up though but that's going to happen anywhere you go besides the org.

That's all I have to say...

Its hard to really judge a cars qaulity until its seen up close and personal. Pictures can hide alot of flaws in cars.
Theres alot of cars names I wish I could remember from back in the day when I first joined but I can't. I vaguely remember their cars but even now, they would still stand out.

I agree with Adam (NJ's Honda Killer) it hard to like what you don't know is there... its hard to say oh car X is the best looking but noone has ever seen it but me and liek 3 other people. The cars people know about, the cars people have been able to see the progress of, the cars people know exist tend to be the cars people like. The is no popularity contest the nice cars that are known are the ones people like. Stealth cavi you always try to make threads liek this personal.... your always so bitter about not having the "most popular ride award" your car is nice but its nothing special, the only thing really close to unique is the celica wing..... come on eif my mom had a cavalier chances are it woudl have a type J kit on it... just liek 95% of the .org cars sporting the type J kit are a dime a dozen these days so unless there is somethign that really makes it stand out above the other 35,000,000 type J cavis people aren't impressed with it... like fetter and phlatcav ect... there cars stand out. SO drop the I get no respect and your all nutswingers attitude.... if you want to be one of the "popular cars" then make it happen

and some more to add... alot of the "popularity" as you call it (most people woudl refer to it as repect) doesn't come from post pic after pic after pic.... you can take as many pics as you want of a car... it doesn't make the car any better, alot of the "popularity" is not just because of the car... its because of the car, the attitude of the person, what they have acomplished ect... me for example... my car now is decent, its nice, its unique, but it all started off with making it fast (13.08) and continued with respect... I took the time to @!#$ around cams and make an entire HUGE how-to for cam install and timing on ecotecs, I took the trial and error and time of finding a way to deal with phantom knock and kept people informed of the progress along the way, I get AT LEAST 2 instant messages from random JBO members asking for help/advise/how to do something a week and I've never said @!#$ you go figure it out yourself. I've always helped out whoever I could when I could weather it was giving Cheesecake my stock upper mount for free when his snapped to sitting on the phone helping someone with a walk through on doing the cams when they hit a point they were stuck at to going outside in the middle of night to take a picture of how my full throttle switch for nitrous on an eco should be mounted. All the pics in the world don't help if its an average car and an owner with a @!#$y attitude. Alot of people have done alot for j'body scene weather its coming out with crazzy custom stuff like anthony jones, or making detailed informative write ups liek Event..... its all about respect

Re: Nicest J-Body's

Not to choose sides but there are a number of cars mentioned in this post that are "nothing special". They do like Darkstars said though. With constant pictures of updates or progress, etc. etc. thats how they stand out because they are in the lime light I guess you could say. But there are definitely a few mentioned that when pics are posted it sets them apart, TheHatedOne and Fetter being two prime examples.

Post like these always get turned into something like this. People complain first of showing their own pictures then others are accused of only being popular because they are post whores.

I still stand by what I believe that when pictures are posted, some cars pictures speak for themselves, whether it be something unique or innovative, or just plain eye candy so to speak. Some of these "post whores" may not necessarily be that. Sure some do it for attention, others do it because they enjoying letting everyone know every little bit of progress they do, and in doing this people tend to take a liking to a vehicle because they over time have watched it evolve. I don't agree with posting pictures each and every time a single new part goes on your car, but updates are great, fresh pictures are great, and write ups are especially great. I wouldn't label these people post whores necessarily, because really they only know their intentions for posting. And if its just to gain attention solely for that reason, so be it, thats their choice.

On the opposite side you have people too though that choose not to post everything, especially when its a unique idea. Some people value unique qaulities about their cars that they don't want to turn into the next fad, but doing so keeps them out of the limelight I guess you could say. Small price you pay to be unique though I guess.

In the end pictures will be pictures and the popularity will be gained I feel not just by pictures, but the cars themselves. There are plenty of cars over the years whose pictures were posted often and people absolutely despised, so being popular is not always a good thing. This site is not a pissing contest though some people seem to think it is, but its real intentions were definitely not that. Rest assured though some use it as an ego booster but that comes with the territory. I say keep the pictures coming no matter what they are or whose they are. Its nice to see the variety that gets thrown into the mix.

i'll take it straight out of the rules:

Quote:

Respect other members. Everyone has their own tastes, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how wrong it is. Some people will have negative opinions towards topics, pictures and the like. They are entitled to those opinions. Likewise, if you don't think highly of something, be considerate when expressing such opinions.

some people prefer cars that don't have body kits and extensive exterior mods, some people only like cars that have thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of work done to them. saying that someone shouldn't like a car because it only has a lip kit on it is just plain stupid. some people like their own car simply because it is their car and they think it is nicer than the rest. get off your high horse and learn to accept that.

and if someone has the most hooked up ride in the world, but has never posted pictures of it, how in the living hell are we supposed to know about it or even mention it as being the nicest? and again, just because you think they have the nicest car, doesn't mean everyone should.

Re: Nicest J-Body's

i just dont think threads like this are necessary. threads like these are what single out the post whores from the rest. and make it that much harder for anybody else to get respect. i understand what you're saying about not being able to like cars you havnt seen... but im not talking about cars that have never been posted. ive seen several cars that have posted pictures a few times of major changes, but since they dont post pictures twice weekly of no changes at all, they're not popular and dont get the respect. The two cars i mentioned as examples have posted pictures and are regular posters... plus they both won 1st place awards at the bash... but yet i still never see them mentioned in threads like this b/c when they post pics they're actually progress pics... not "hey look at my ride that hasnt chnged" pics every other day of the week. i know part of the reason i dont get votes for any of this crap is because i dont sit here and post "oh my gosh your ride is sooooo sweet! i want to hump it!" everytime a popular person posts another redundant thread of their car. and now we have 9 pages of "whos car is better than whos car"... is that really necessary? is this an online car show? where do i register at?

Re: Nicest J-Body's
Saturday, July 30, 2005 5:13 AM
Adam I understand exactly what you are saying about the continuous threads of post the nicest j or whos car is better.....what ever the case may be. But you have alot of people on here that really dont know the board and alot of different people that dont know how to do certain searches.....I am one of those people. But why have the board if your scared to ask some people to post a picture of their car because someone else is going to turn it into a "you shouldnt do that thread". Im not saying your not right about the constant "this type thread" but if members (who obviously like this) dont do this then how are other j-body enthusiasts supposed to know what other members drive. Maybe the . org should have a sticky for new members to post a pic or two (max) of their cars and unless a member gets a completely new car or drastic change to only post the once. I for one know that i like to browse "look at the best ride" threads and see who has what to drive. just my .02, hope you understand what i am saying.

first of all, take a freakin chill pill. i don't know what crawled up your ass, but get it out, seriously.

this isn't a thread of "whos car is better than someone elses", it's a thread of who do you think has a nice car. "Nice" has a rather wide definition. you might not think most of these cars are nice, whereas others do.

and the whole postwhore nutswinging mentality that you are displaying is just plain stupid. some people enjoy posting pictures of their cars, because they like the positive feedback they get, and they enjoy letting others know what they have done. that doesn't make them attention whores or any other sort of bad person. why do you have a signature? so you can show off your car. that, imo, is no different than posting pics every so often.

most people who put up pics in P&M are showing changes that have been made. not everyone posts pics of the same thing they had 3 months ago. some people do, but that's cause they found a better place to take pics for nicer scenery, or got a girl to model on their car, or just wanted to show it off again. big whoop. how is that hurting your life any?

as for threads like this, it's always fun to see who thinks who's car is good looking... hell, a lot of cars in this thread i hadn't seen before, or if i had seen them, it's been a while and didn't see some changes that have been made. it also is a good way to get ideas. i see so many cars here with so many beautiful mods, and some that i'd like to incorporate myself.

if you think there's cars out there that deserve to be posted, quit bitching about the ones that are posted, and put up the pics. tell us who you think should get recognition for their hard work, rather than sit here and complain about the ones that are getting recognition.

end of discussion. this thread is for posting pictures of nice cars, not complaining about the fact that your favorite cars havn't been mentioned.
