I'm having one really big brain fart today... The 97 pontiac sunfire with the 2.2L auto came with the 3 speed 3T40?? Right? all of these 3T's, 4T's, 40's, and E's are messin with my head right now...
3 is the amount of gears
T indicates transaxle
30 indicates torque capacity
E indicates electronic
I believe there is a 4t40e and the 3t30.
