oil return question. Is any presure there.?

I have installed my turbo everything it's ok, but my oil return.

I have a an inlet on my oil pan on the upper but my turbo outlet is about 2 inches down of this inlet in the pan so I have a hose conected going up a little.

This could be a side view

May this cause a problem.?

Should I change the position to let the gravity do the job.?

I have run some miles since yesterday and no problem.

Tnks

the oil drian has to be a down angle , if the oil has to go up hill it will back up in the turbo , and cause smoking problems

unless you get a electric oil pump to keep it from backing up

that's right. oil drain are purely gravity feed. it's up to you how you want to do it, but it's got to be facing downward.

OK, Two more questions..

1. How many oil presure should be in the oil inlet of a turbo.?
2. How many oil drain a turbo.?

Thank you very much.

That set up may cause problems because the turbo it sitting too low compared to its return line. Set ups like this should use a pump to help pull the oil out of the return line like 97cavie24ls said.

some have found the pressure our engines generate to be more then some turbos like. there are restrictors to drop the pressure some but i am unsure of the actual operating ranges. anyone got anything? the return needs to be 0, oil needs to be able to "fall out" freely from the turbo or there will be problems. if you cant position the turbo above your oil return you need to rig up a sump for the oil to drain to and a pump to return the oil to the pan.

basically, the oil return from the turbocharger itself needs to be within 30 degrees of straight down. as close to straight down as you can get it, and from there, shouldn't really face back upwards at all in order to get a perfect gravity feed.
