I was wondering about this.. and i tried to adjust it but i could not get a firm hold on it to turn the screw.. i think you will have to take the supercharger off to do it... but i to am very curious as to what it will do. I think it will open the by pass valve sooner allowing you to see more boost as if you look once you get up to like 5500 rpm your boost starts to climb more.

blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno
sounds interesting. I was reading about that on the redline forums when they first found out how to do so.
Can anybody tell me how I should approach this on the m45?
I would love an extra 2psi for free

ya, to bad out bypass valve is vacuume controled... we dont have a bypass valve solenoid.
if you want to try this "mod" just unhook the vac line that runs from the intake to the bypass valve acuator..... it just makes the car feel bigger.... but no more boost..

What taetsch said...
The nice part about being vacuum controlled is that as soon as you mash the gas (i.e. WOT) the vacuum goes away, the bypass closes, air gets (slightly) pressurized, and champagne and roses fall from the heavens. Ok, maybe not, but you still get a good feeling at the base of your spine
Major dealy with pulling the vacuum line, that will make the bypass closed all the time, so you're running under boost all the time. You might have more power at partial throttle, but your gas mileage will also suffer. Personally, I like getting close to 30 mpg, what with premium gas over $3/gal

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
Boo, I knew that 2psi I wanted wouldn't be that easy!
Pulley time, haha.
What about adjusting the stop for the bypass valve. When there is no vac. the valve rests on a stop with a bolt in it. If the valve is not closing all the way when you produce 5 psi of boost you should (in theory) be able to turn the bolt in the stop out to let the valve close all the way during boost, thus creating more pressure in the supercharger. More boost is a good thing.
.....
assumming that GM dident want the supercharger to perform... any way it says "DON NOT TURTCH" on the bypass valve... but, you knowing mor than a GM tec, go ahead..

... the motor is more responcive.. there isent ANY hesatation when boost comes on. it feels like its a 3.1, with topend..
try it. all you have to do is disconect the vac line form the intake

I just turned the screw out on mine about 5 turns and it did nothing. Sorry guys but it was a good brainstorm. looks like we just have to buy a smaller pulley.

Did u plug it or anything? so all u did was take off the vac line that goes from bypass to tb plate on s/c?

I just tried it out.......All it did for me was hesistate more......although I could hear the whine a tad more at lower rpms like 2k.........so i hooked that vacuum line back up......and said to hell with it and ordered my pullies 5 minutes ago!

Car is for Sale!Supercharger kit is for sale!
im not much of a supercharger guy... but this sounds like a BAD idea to pull that vacuum line. Check me if im wrong.... but for those of you who downshift when going down steep hills to use backpressure to slow you down.... youd suddenly be seeing boost! meaning you'd speed up.....
no, because the throttle plate is not opean theres no air in the blower to get compressed.
i did it at the track... made my 60' a bit better.... that is how i pulled of that time.

This actually seems like something that would only be of value at the track, and easy enough to do there.
On the streets, it would just be extra wear and tear on the blower.
As for adjusting the valve... why is it even adjustable? What does the adjustment do? Change the level of vacuum needed to open it? Change the position of the closed valve? I mean, if it's not closing completely then adjusting that could yield some gains. But does anyone know what the adjustment actually does? I'm sure there's some reason GM labeled it in huge letters saying to leave it alone.
changes the position of the valve when its closed. also i think there is a way to ajust hte fluclum point of the arm.
( ive looked at it alot when ever im chnaging the oil in the blower. )

I would expect closed to be closed. Does this mean the blower has a built in boost-leak under load?
if not set corectaly from the factory, yes
ive always woundered that if spring tention holds it closed.... couldent boost pu@!#$ opean...
im taking mine off after nopi to rebuild it and port it... ill take pics and keep everyone who cares aprised.
