I was taking apart my turbo today and 2 bolts snapped off in the holes what should i do?
It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road
get them out with a drill and easy outs

I would try what pj said after considering the possibilty of slotting the ends of the bolts with a cutoff wheel (dremel works well here) and using a flat head to pull the threads out. Sometimes Ez outs are the last thing you want to attempt using.
They are kinda like turbo rotaries...60% of the time they work all the time....

they make extractors, you drill a hole through the center of the bolt then put the extractor in and it will pull it out. not very hard.

yeh i know it says it up in that last 2 replies. but also they say thats the last way to go. but i read heating and cooling it works before extracting it.

Actually when you are talking about a bolt on a turbo ESPECIALLY one on the hot side that has been tempered by heating and cooling this process is'nt so easy...drilling out the center of a bolt...marginally easy if you have a drill press...drilling out the center of a hardened bolt or any bolt grade 8.9 or higher and it becomes damn near impossible let alone with a hand drill. Not even getting into the fact that it probably has tempered with heat.
Then you have to deal with getting the extractor in and hoping you dont end up with a big chunk of tool steel now occupying the hole. Extractors when doing work on any engine parts or for that matter most machined surfaces are simply hit and miss and usually a last ditch effort.
Where is the bolt stuck in? (maybe should have started with this option first.)
If its something mundane like a bolt on the turbine housing to the DP then I would say cut the head of that bitch, its not going to breach the surface that seals the exhaust gas in so it make no difference if you put a small slice on each side of the hole.
The RIGHT way to go about this would be to pick up a set of left hand drill bits, Good ones. Try goodson or something of that nature. Then if the drill bit does'nt back the bolt out itself while you are drilling it you have a hole already to use your last ditch extractor kit.

Do what I did and buy a new exhaust housing (assuming thats the side you snap the bolts). I think I paid like $45.00 for a nice clean hot side.
If you know someone with a welder have them weld some layers on top the bolts so they have some material sticking out then twist off with a vice grips, usually works best if you can get the bolts red hot first... soak them in PB blaster for like a day first though.
yes it is to the turbine housing. So i might as well just buy a new housing then? If i'm going to get a new housing a might as well test out that left handed drill bits.
