Eco S/c Header Build Opinions needed.
Sunday, June 01, 2008 5:07 PM
I've done my fair research and comparison on their designs and I've settled on what I want to build for when I get my motor finally in my car. The Pacesetter LSJ header is 1.75" primaries and guys who run them on their J-bodys are seeing great gains over the J-body one of 1.5", So i've discussed with Ryan the owner of RD Fabs that we should pioneer a 2" manifold and see what happens in the same design. I will be running a 3.0 pulley to start. Then see where I can go from there.

Here is the LSJ manifold we made already for Edubs 's 06 Cobalt SS S/c (Cam'd, Stg. 2 , this manifold and 3" exhaust put him just shy of 300whp )

Think 2" is over kill for primaries? ( in the grade stainless we use, we can't get 1/4 increments so its either a 1.5 or 2.0) I'm all for the 2.0 and getting the exhaust as free flowing as possible.

looks nice. hate to sound like a noob here but how many pieces would it be? basically im asking if it is like the pacesetters ball joint design or would it have a flex pipe? would the downpipe have a bung welded in for a wide band as well?

tnx

To answer everyone's questions as a whole, here we go....

It would be pretty much as you see above but with longer runners. I am thinking on doing 2 versions, one for the avg. joe in 1.5" runners and the 2" for the S/c application. No flex piping and a v-band clamp, because those stupid ball joints are a pain to get to seal right.

.25 make a difference? I guess we'll find out now won't we. I am going to run the same setup Phlatcav did to hit 24X whp. So we'll see what happens with the extra .25".

LD9?..... isn't that motor obsolete yet? Lol. We don't have a LD9 in the shop to mock up on, other wise we could look into it.

Price?.... We'd offer a GP to get it lower if there was interest. But like all our manifolds not in GP's normally start around 450-500 in t-304 stainless lifetime warranty. We're doing 2200 ram horn turbo manifolds right now for $375 in a GP.

There would be 1 stock O2 bung, these can be special ordered with custom options ( another bung, ceramic high temp armor coating, etc)

A quarter of an inch is a huge difference.

13/4 inch primaries will accommodate up to 250 hp on a 4 cylinder while keeping up exhaust velocity.

2 inch will cover up to 330 hp on a 4 cylinder. That quarter inch has the ability to channel 80 hp worth of exhaust gasses.

So yeah if your making 330hp 2' will be fine.

well i'm about to bite the bullet and get a new/used lsj header for my s/c. but this won't be available for a while.
i've got dyno plans on 6/14 for the rk 4-2-1 header. but after that i'll swappin out full exhaust for somethin a lil more free flowing.

Just put an ld9 flange instead of an eco, should be similar enough Seriously I would love one, but have all new exhaust parts to go on and dont think Id like to wait that long

97cavie24ls(™), Id love to see some pics of the header(s) your talking about.

I'd like to see a long tube 4-2-1 header made. Like this....

Mother of god.....

We could make one like that.... But to try and market them.... buyers would be few and very far between.

very nice..... We've finally decided to source out a company to make our collector flanges which look pretty close to those, and they look sick as hell. I cannot wait to get one on my car. 2" primaries with a 3" collector. Yummy.......

those are both eco headers , and yes they were made by wheel 2 wheel for GM , and both came from sema cars

Not sure yet, my car didn't end up where I wanted it to this year..... so it will be yet another year before I get it into my car... A simple motor swap turned into a total restoration once I tore my car apart and saw all the rust it had.

I would ball park the picture i first put up in all T-304 stainless 2" primaries around $450-500 range. I'll be testing it out and letting everyone know how she runs now that we've got access to a dyno on a regular basis.

Soooo...... The header is free with a purchase of a full exhaust? Right cody?

Re: Eco S/c Header Build Opinions needed.

Suuure.... I'll be sure to tack on the price of the header subliminally to your exhaust price..

lol.

T-304 isn't cheap, and yet we are still cheaper than many other companies, and we know we are charging less than normal.
