lol just for giggles if i got a m45 supercharger on my LD9 and welded a blow-off valve onto the intake piping would it do anything or even work?

You have no idea how a supercharger works do you? A bov wouldn't do anything on the intake pipe, because the air there isn't compressed with a supercharger.

well the air is compressed by the supercharger but it runs directly thru the manifold into the engine without a throttle body closing on the compressed air.....a BOV only works b4 the throttle body when it comes to comressed air, not after.

i know how a supercharger works, but i see the vortech superchargers with BOV's but then again those are roots type superchargers. and anyways i was only asking this question for craps and giggles

The answer to your ? is there is no way to intercool the m45 or give it the sound a blow off valve makes. The reason you can do it with the vortech unit is it is basically the same as a turbo except spun by a belt instead of exhaust gasses.

The compressor shape has nothing to do with using a Blow off/bypass valve.

As was already stated, they are used for compressors that come before the throttle body. While the compressor compresses air, if the throttle suddenly closes, then it creates a pressure wave sent back to the compressor which causes surging or fluttering. If you have the throttle before the compressor (like a roots or twin screw typically has), then you don't get this phenomenon...and that goes for both superchargers AND turbochargers with the throttle before the charger. If you remote mounted a roots charger, where it came before the throttle body, then you will want some tpe of BOV or bypass valve to vent.

So to the OP, no it won't do anything.

you are all wrong... i have a post in here showing my system. i have it set up using an m90 and a 2.3 manifold. using the throttle body on the manifold and just running a pipe from the exit on the charger with a plenum. sounds sweet.... i would say go for it... it works...

His question wasn't whether you can remote mount the charger. His question was...

exactly i only made this post to see if u welded a BOV onto the intake piping would it relieve pressure from the supercharger and make the BOV sound, and obviously we have gotten to the bottom of that so i am now going to officially going to end this forum, so its done. although i would still like to see the set-up that Evan has and see if it actually works, but the answer for my question is it doesnt do anything so there.

i got the RFG BOV on mine, stands for really fukin gay like this question lol

In some weird way you could probally get something to work but it would serve NO purpose because the s/c has a boost acuator which is internal
