Ok so i got my wastgate and i was bolting the mani, gate and turbo together when i noticed the "ring" sticks out below the flange. As i have understood the ring end is what needs to be bolted to the mani so is there a special flange that had a cut out for the "ring"??? i have looked over the internet and it looks like there is a flange that is reliefed for such "ring" I can provide pics if needed..phil

Here is the pics of what im talking about...i may be totally wrong here but i have to make sure. Sorry for the pic clarity..hard to get clear pics of stuff without flash.
Here is the flange i have.

Here is the bump/ring on the wastegate...notice how it sits below the flange hieight

here is it sitting on top of the mani. See the gap

And these are the flanges i have been seeing around the net.
it looks to me like the flange was welded upside down. ill talk to corey once he gets on

The ring on the wastegate looks like it is on upside down. It should come out and when you put the ring in the right way it will have a flat surface and then push the ring back in with your fingers.
thats weird.... My ring sat flush either way it was in the wastegate. You could use a gasket there that way it seals...

the ring in the wastegate colapses to seal the wastegate, and as far as the flange goes its not in there upside down the part machined out on the flange is so your tubing slides in there (1 5/8" 16 gauge piping fits in there i bet)

R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
What Brandon just said is exactly correct. If you push hard enough down on that ring you will see that it will sit flush with enough pressure.

Oh ok..well that makes me feel better was not sure..still a boost newbie 100% As for gaskets i have the stainless ones it comes with or i also have the thicker soft kind..either one work better then the other?
I have heard that both have a tendency to blow out after a while so I never used any on my setup. I just use high temp ultra copper gasket on all my connections. Its ok if your new man nothing wrong with asking questions thats what this forum is for. Good luck and I know you will love the added power just tune properly .
