Just wondering if you could get them? i swear i saw some..
What are you guys with 350-400hp using for head bolts? as well as head gasket?

guys are using arp head studs and cometic head gaskets, they have 2 in stock thicknesses but you can get other if you call them

i would go thicker but there is no need to go any lower compression then what i will be running.. i didnt pick the compression ratio but its 8:1 (i would have picked 8.5:1)
the cometic ones are copper right?

From what ive been told you have to have your Head and Deck machined to use the Cometic

even if your just going with OEM thickness?

You want to have perfect flat surface on both the head and the block.... thats why if you get it milled / decked you would be good to go.
I have both head studs and both kinds of cometic head gaskets in stock. If you are interested let me know, email me or PM me, I'll cut you a nice deal
448whp 422tq arp head studs tq'd to 85ft lbs i believe running cometic .074 headgasket

oh and got it all from that man above

Two different kinds of heads studs??

FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
I have ARP head studs in my engine (well both actualy) and on y last build I used a stock graphite head gasket. Will be using a graphite one again on new motor. I have had poor luck with Cometic (leak between layers after 250 miles) and dont ever want to use another one. I also torque my studs down to 80 ft-lbs.
thank you mitdr774 .. i may end up just using my felpro one then...

Arp headstuds here with Cometic HG.

didnt spyhunter run just a stock replacement fel-pro head gasket, the stock head bolts and was fine??
how many of you ARP boys went back in and tore the engine apart to re-torque them?? is this absolutely necessary?

We did on the Reaper. It was never off on the 2 times after the first put together. I really did not think it was needed, but on a major motor build better be safe than sorry.

no, he ran the cometic + all ARP
blew the fel-pro quickly

M45 S/C should be safe with a Felpro and ARP studs? WIthout having to tear down to re torque

hmmmm... i thought the 422whp run was done with the fel-pro and stock bolts. obviously the 'just fine' part is shot out the window then
but whatever works lol
I had a felpro and stock headbolts when I clicked off 432hp.... The very next day at the track, I blew the headgasket, and a SPEC stage 3 on my first run.
If I had the chance at the time I would have ran a cometic and arp studs, but the cometic wasn't out yet.
Now on my motor there is a Cometic gasket and ARP Studs done up to 85lbs of hell.

do any of you have part numbers for the ARP head bolts and main bolts?
As well i am hearing mixed things about this Cometic head gasket.. Are you guys that are having them split apart getting warenty on them?
Also how much more am I going to lower my compression ratio if i go wit the 0.030" Cometic head gasket when im already at 8:1 ?
and this block was all cleaned up and machined the same way any block is when it gets a rebuild... so what else Would i have to do to make the cometic gasket work?

Cometic told me i did things wrong when i installed the gasket/s (I did everything exactly as they said even down to the torque the recommended) and refused to work with me at all. My gaskets were leaking from between the layers. never had an issue with it leaking between the head or block and gasket, just between the actual gasket layers. My solution, even though Cometic said it wouldnt do anything, was to drill out the rivets and coat both sides of each layer with copper spray gasket. Held up for 16K miles of S/C abuse and even took a hit from a failed cylinder (valve broke or it detonated bad, but put a hole in the piston and head). Even the one night of turbo/S/C fun didnt kill it (17.5 PSI at 3500 RPM). They suck to deal with and will never accept any responsibility for a gasket issue.
I copper sprayed mine and haven't had any issues.

but as far as prepping the head/block to make it work? what more do i have to do? it hasnt been used yet... it was rebuilt but very poorly and nothing was torqued properly so thats why im pulling it back apart and throwing in ARP bolts... and i would like to do the Cometic head gasket if i dont have to do any more machineing (machine shops around here are booked up till middle of summer)
