Of course this is the question of the day... but did you happen to look at any of the FAQ's?

the general rule of thumb is 6psi is ok on stock internals to be run reliably. sure, theres quite a few out there running much more and still ok, but they usually end up blowing up.

Do explain where this "general rule of thumb" came from, Brad?

Please not the "How much psi on stock internals" debate AGAIN. We all know this is dependant on many things such as but not limited to AFR, timing, octane of gas, condition of engine prior to boost ect. Besides we all know psi is only a measure of resistance and that the cfm a setup flows is what is really important not psi.

ARP doesn't make Head Gaskets.

Go to the top of the Boost Forums and read the "STICKY" that applies, make a new list and come back and ask questions.

What Gary said.

Also Wade - my point is there *IS* no general rule of thumb. That's newbie folk-lore passed down through the mis-information airwaves that are keyboard-tuner experts.

GM's setup was limited both by emissions standards crossing 2 countries as well as good old Florida, as well as taking into account the static compression ratio vs. the heat of roots centrifugally charged air + moronic drivers not putting in the right fuel.

The GMSC spark tables display this tremendously. It had nothing to do with what the engine could handle.

Your "rule of thumb" is simply a personal insight.

the rule of thumb is: when you're putting half a highway on various srt4's, it just might be too much

Blew it up, build numbers coming soon

fill out your car info and we could help you further.

if your car is a 00-02 with a 2.4 go get the gm reflash and you should be good for your 7-8psi, run the highest octane you can.
