yea thats true my breather tube was connected to my intake, where as now i have a lil filter on it. even though the intake was clean. o-well that heads off. id like to see how this new one is.
If youre going to run rubber line down near the downpipe, you might try wrapping the section of tube thats near the downpipe in a 2nd layer of the same or "high heat" tubing, to act as a shield from the heat. I did this on my van I used to have as the line was always melting... Im sure it wasnt the stock location for the line, but that was the case, and a 2nd skin stopped it from happening.
just a thought. I want to see this thing running!
It might help inspire me to actually boost my car, all i need is a downpipe with an o2 bung in it to install everything.
Yea, we were thinking of doing something like that. I was also thinking of wrapping the tube with the d/p heat wrap i have to protect it. i dont see why that wouldnt help.
Thats funny that, thats all you have holding you back, as its quite a coincidence. I had my whole turbo kit pieced together but i had to wait almost 5 months before i got enough spare money 2gether to get my dp/exhaust piping. lol. mostly because all of our spare money went to having to fix the clutch in our SS, and since we had to pull the tranny we decided to just throw in a spec stage 4 and a fidanze 7 lb flywheel
And i hope i can inspire you! ill be taking some vids of it once im ready to start and and especially once its tuned

ive been waiting for this for god knows how long.
I will also have some more pics of it to load up after working on it tonight, sucks i have to go to work during the day :p what a waste of a day i could be finishing the car lol
get out there and finish it!!!!

BTW, here are a few PICS of my new setup.. I think you will like.. New wastegate hasn't been put on yet, and all couplers were changed to black....

I know Ryan im goin im goin!

Btw, your new set up looks nice!
At this point theres only one probelem im seeing that may be... a bitch, to say the least. I got the ebay log manifold that had the flanges already welded, well for one, the turbo flange placement was @!#$, and my turbo barely fit in, but due to some, um customization we got it in there... and the other problem is the location of the wastegate flange. for one my alternator bracket would not fit on with the wastegate on, not even close so we sorta grinded off some of that, and then welded a bracket to connect those two arms closer to the head, and straight across... so that it still had stability.. so we over came that although my wastegate sticks almost straight up.. lol.. um im going to have to cut my hood and like get a scoop.. or something... because it *might* fit barely (which i still doubt) BUT when the engine torques, i know that'll go right through... and i dont want to risk hurting the wastegate...
Sucks about the flange placements.... I know we are selling our mani's for $400+, but they are made with high quality flanges(already tapped),304 stainless, all TIG welded, and all have fit with no problems. Is there any other place you can weld a new flange for the wastegate and block off the other port? That would suck to have to cut a whole in your hood for something like this...

oh yea btw, the wastegate clears fine

*phew*
congrats on the progress, i should have my 2.4 done shortly as well.
it looks like your intercooler isnt totally straight
Looking good! I really hate that hard coolant line that runs across the front of everything on the 2200's. Just no way to make it look good in my opinion. lol Still a very nice setup though. congrats.
i deffinatly know what you mean about that big coolant line. o-well. i plan on eventually cleaning everything up but for now i want to get it running good and then i can do things one by one, lol.
yes the intercooler is a hair off center but we placed it there due to a few rust spots on that support being in the way of perfect alignment. doesn't bother me..
so tonight went well, got it running, sounded real good and strong. at first sounded like a rough idle but hptuners showed everything looking good and healthy. I think that new head gave it a different sound. also sounded alot better than before as i was misfiring and had a real rough idle. only had it running about 5 minutes. the gasket on our oil feed line was @!#$ and started to leak so we turned it off and replaced the gasket but unfortunately while tightening it back down it cracked for some reason so have to get a new feed line adapter thing. But thats no biggie, just have to get a new one and it should be ready to go.
All thats left is to add another hanger to the exhaust and put the last section of the "tip" up there and its ready to be driveable (once we fix that oil feed line situation). but it was getting late and i didnt want to rush and miss something, and working in the dark sucks :-p but its getting there. for the most part, it seems like we couldn't have asked for much of a better start up.
only thing that sucks is we have alot of stuff to burn off of the engine. and the exhaust wrap smokes for 30 minutes before it sets as well.
Here are some pics from earlier in the day and i have a vid ill post once i get it up as well...
1st Start Up
Heres the vid of its first start up. I was going to edit out the beginning but my vid-editing program is being @!#$ right now so sorry, the beginning is kind of long wihle we were waiting to start it up. (our pcms are so slow while uploading with hpt lol). And it sucks how dark it is but o-well, it sounds nasty though
It was in the garage so it was echoing a bit, im hoping its not too loud. Im running, obv the turbo, a magnaflow high flow cat and a 12"resonator... it really didnt seem any louder than my car when i had the dual mag cannons on there... so probably be staying no muffler, and worst case, another resonator.
Not bad man, congrats.

thanks guys! god i cant wait to tune it and drive it. we might be able to do that tonight, depends on when we get back from work and if we can get an oil feed line adapter plate from the shop. we'll see.... im dyyiing to drive it. especially after starting it last night...oh man... lol
Man looking at all of these pics of your car has got me going back through all the pics i have of my car. I took way too many. lol Sounds very nice by the way!
haha yea i took alot of my install as well as just tons and tons i have of my car in general. what psi are you running? also, have you been to the track since your last posted slips in your registry?
I'm currently running 18 lbs. and a little bit of nitrous at the track. Dont really drive the car much on the street though. To the track and back is generally it. And yes i have tons of slips that i don't post. I haven't really been on this site in the last couple of years.
oh wow.. what are you running for times? have you gotten it dynoed? You must be pushing some pretty good power out of it.
Have decent times considering the weight. still running a full interior and all. Power is excellent. neither of which will be publicly posted though. This board is way too critical and all will end in a stupid pissing match.
Awesome Jess.. Bout time you got that thing done.. I know you are excited, I cant wait to see the times... Tell Joe to get to work on that tune and get some numbers up....
Todd, I know what you mean about the pissin match coment, but I really am interested in know how youyr car is running...

The car is running great. Has been pretty solid for almost two years now. Other than normal maintanence, i really haven't had to do much to it. As far as numbers, I don't know this for a fact, but i'm pretty sure i'm close to hold the power record in a 2.2l ohv.
Come on now everyone this is making me want to boost my 2200. I just cannot do it to a 90,000 mile motor. I wish I was alot closer to people that have done boosted 2200's. I would love to make mine a quick daily driver and get peoples attention. Hope you get it all done soon Jess.

2009 Ford Mustang V6
90,000 miles... that's nothing, by the time i get everything on mine I'll have 140,000. Then again the head only has 50,000 on it.
Loving the build so far, can't wait to see a dyno sheet as well as vids of it running after the tune.
Boosted 2200, Summer 2007
it has been done.... holy @!#$.... been a long haul....
all it needs is a good tune and maybe some minor adjustments here and there. but right now, only partially tuned, its competition for our modded ss/sc... 3rd and 4th gear pulls with me shifting at only 4k i kept up with him (due to not being all the way tuned i dont want to ride it to hard... just testing it out a lil.) So once its tuned and right on the money im wondering what it will be capable of, because our ss is a mid-low 13second car. with drag radials its be capable of 12s. so im very anxious...
im surprised at how quick it is. once the car gets to about 5 vacuum, it shoots up to 9-10 psi instantly. with a HUGE surge of power. very little lag i would say. and man that turbo screams. im still in disbelief that the stock bottom end and slightly modded head would give the OHV that much of a healthy push.... i had vids but the disk got all messed up and was unreadable apparently. but ill have vids very soon once its tuned 100%
thanks everyone for your comments and support
only thing is my bov sputters a lil, but i was told the hks ssqv is known do to that... i know its not turbo surge, its deff the bov, just seemed strange but as long as its normal
