Ok, here are those pictures of the clutch that I promised.

Here are some pictures of the balance shaft removal we did. We order a shorter chain and a guide from GM. Also, We had to drill into the block to fill some oil passages that you can't see here. If you notice in the 2nd picture, GM sent us some bushings that we pressed into the holes where the balance shaft bearings used to be.
We were told from the folks at GM that the tensioner for this belt had some issues where it would blow out the back, or release tension on the guide and the chain would slip off when sitting on the two-step. So we machined a piece to weld over the back of the tensioner to prevent the blow out, and made our own guide to assist the stock guide.
Because we needed to mock up the turbo/manifold setup outside of the car to see how we would route the water cooling lines for the turbo, I thought I would take a few shots to better show what we did.
As we finally have the motor all put together ready to go into the car, we are becoming more and more anxious to get it running. We are close, hang in there!

We thought about that...but if we remove the chain, the balance shafts should come out anyway. Having the dead weight of the balance shaft in the motor is not desired and integrating a remote water pump would probabaly take just as much time anyhow and cost at least the same as the new chain. Also, we like to try and stay as stock as possible to keep the term "Racecar" out of the vocabulary for the car

.

Believe it or not, we have used a very similar clutch setup in our 10 second street Eclipse and it wasn't as bad as most would think. ClutchMasters provided us with a few other discs to try out and get a feel for which combinations are the best for both street and drag. I never drove that Eclipse down the track, but my dad said the difference between the ClutchMasters Stage 4 and the Multi Disk setup was amazing. He said it was as if the trans fell into the gears with absolutley no issues and never worried about missing a gear. Of course, that was a different car so I guess we will just have to see.

Yeah, twin disc clutches are suprisingly streetable.

fortune cookie say:
better a delay than a disaster.
that clutch looks hot
the turbo setup looks hot too
I'm probably going to lick this car when I see it
just a heads up
My boy had a Exedy twin disk in the Evo IX and believe it or not you will see what your dad is talking about .
You will never want another clutch in your life.
I know others are talking about how expensive it is but it is worth it for sure.
Now he has triple disk Tilton carbon-carbon, I guess we'll see how that works out.

nice set up so far adam
dam you guys were hard on spyhunter for having the CM twin disk , just like adams ,
Hey Adam i will be running the neutral shaft from gm is there anything wrong with this route
Also what camshafts are yall running, i see GM had some 268 duration cams
Drive by my house when its all done! hell drive to my job ill hook you up with something to eat if i can stare at the car!
My lord thats a big turbo!!!! You guys at Hahn have your sh*t together.
I am a faithful believer of Hahn Racecraft's turbo knoledge.
Hey hahn nice Eddie Current, haha, works great for a photostand eh?

probably the only one to notice what that was

but thats cuz i build dyno trailers
Show me a pic of your dyno setup in the shop, very interested to see it.
This is the setup i just finished building at the shop a few months ago for PRI, getting ready to build 2 more once we get our coldsaw in
Nice welds on that manifold, just outta curiosity did you use velocity stacks on the inside? as well as are the runners tapered? hard to tell from the pics.
Also why did you got with Stainless IC piping over Aluminum?
And the Plastic tensioner peice WILL break, i can show you it broken in half if you would like

its a funny story how this came to be and an honest mistake. We shortened austins shifter, removing the reverse lock-out, and so we had austins car back together running perfect for a few days. now a little background knowledge, austins daily driver is a VW gulf, 4th gear is... down and all the way to the right

so going to I4 80mph, habit took over

letting out of the clutch ... yadda yadda after we pulled the motor we found out it was this tensioner peice that broke, nothing else clutch perfect, getrag perfect... nothing else was wrong accept this peice broke. so lesson learned fun story. austins gonna kill me when he finds out i posted this

but it was an honest mistake
Anyways sorry for the threadjack/long post

cant wait to see some dyno numbers.
Looks sweet man, good luck.

Karo (Car Customs) wrote:Adam,
Which line is getting the actual fuel? Do you still have the stock intank fuel pump as well? I see 2 blue hoses going into the Y fitting then 1 hard line coming out of the Y fitting.
I assume the hard line is going into the engine bay correct? Where are the other 2 blue hoses going into which is right after the filters?
Did you keep your stock return line or did you change that as well?
Both lines are running the fuel. There are two pickups that we drilled in right above the gas tank and thats where those blue hoses are going. Those 2 fuel pumps are running simultaneously and both pumping fuel into the y block and into the hard line. Yes the hardline is the main fuel line heading to the fuel rail. We are actually using the stock supply line as our return line.

go back, reread Adam's last post..... They are not even using the OEM pump and pickup (or lines)......

Then look at the pic. You can see the OEM feed line from the tank to the filter is not connected to anything. The return line is still attached though (and if their using the stock supply line as a return, they better hook that up, before a tankfull of C16 ends up on the shop floor)

yah, with no pressure in the lines those pumps likely flow around the 510lph combined.
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
Yeah, we will definitely be hooking up that line before we start it. Usually the stock pump goes there but we do not wanna run the fuel backwards through it, just doesnt seem right lol. So my dad is going in to NAPA to get a solution. He has the crazy ability to know the size and pitch of the threads by looking at them so it should be an easy trip.
