Yet ANOTHER S/C ECO DOWN!!! GRAHHHH!!!! And a update on myself

Ok, so backup about 2 weeks.... Im driving along with my girlfriend in the car, i feel a lil squirly so at 40mph i drop it into second, bring up the rpms and dump the clutch.... The car bogs IMMEDIATLY and i think "oh @!#$"

I immediatly shut it off after i press the gas a second time with no responce, coast to the side of the road and check for holes in the block/fluid leaking ect. Nothing.... Start it back up, it idles but sounds like a damn wrx (which i dont necissarily mind)

I didnt hear any knocking or any noise to suggest anything really went bad, so i drive it home thinking the coil pack took a dump on me. So the next morning i order a new pack from work, which is special order and they felt like taking their time so i got it yesterday. I know i should have done some diagnostics but every symptom the car had (without dissasembling) Pointed straight at the pack and/or ICM.

Well, i just finished installing the pack (about 2 seconds), Start it up and im at the same place i left off.... My heart sinks AGAIN as i go to get the spark plug socket, extension, and ratchet.

Num. 1 cylinder, plug very black with some oil, but looks OK
Num. 2 Cylinder, same as before
Num. 3 Cylinder.....



Sorry for the bad quality, my camera just wouldnt focus.... But either way i saw the smashed plug and threw it across the yard, ratchet, extension, and all......

So, with about 35,000 miles of boost ONLY at 7psi, my baby gave up. I wonder if RSMs tune is to blame??? I dont know and im not pointing fingers at anyone. I installed the supercharger myself KNOWING the risks that come along with boosting any vehicle, and I accept what i knew would happen as a result... I just thought i had more time.


Well, now i just gotta come up with 700 bux so i can order rods and pistons... But ima tear it down first and make sure the head/cylinder walls are ok... Although im sure the head will need serviced. Anyone know where i can get them 8,000 RPM Valve springs and a set of sodium filled valves???

My plans are now to rebuild, get that pulley cut down even smaller and go with a 150hp shot of Nitrous..... Or i may just sell the supercharger for dirt while i have it apart and go with Hahn....

Only problem is that i Just bought my bike in August... Which LUCKY for me i just got it back on the road after my highside.

Now back together




So im looking forward to some CCCOOOLLLDDD mornings here in MD when i getup for work.... Why did she have to die in the winter!!!!!

BUT i can say my baby got me home safe and sound, It blew up but still never left me stranded.

I guess that's what happens when you use a 2002 tune to accommodate a forced inducted car.

I'm glad it wasn't a GMPP Kit.

Best of luck with the rebuild. It sucks, but it's an excuse to move on.

Although i do see a lawsuit coming... My bro is gettin HPtuners and if we compare his PCM to my PCM and have NO changes, i wonder if i could sue the company for false advertisement.

Instead of relying on the questionable RSM "tune", why don't you have the GM reflash?

Sounds like you got a hookup, being your ordered the coilpack from "work".

Heh its a carquest pack... And yes i do have a hookup though, one of my friends works at a chevy dealer, he said if i buy the Map sensor hell do the tune for me one day after work. But as i said my bro is getting HP tuners hes gunna let me use it for my car, so i dun want a locked PCM... Plus like i said if we check the PCM i could have a case, except im in US and theyre in Canada

RSM is now z-spec

I am very sorry to hear about your car. If you were relying soley on the "reflash", which evidence suggests may not exist, then running 35,000 miles and 7 psi on an otherwise stock fuel system, and having the car last this long is impressive. I really wish you the best of luck with everything.

dood RSM is to blame solely. didnt you here what happened. they checked it with hpt, and there was not a single thing done. not one

worst part is, there is nothing you can due about it. besieds drving up to there new place and kicking them in the nutz

Yea i was gunna get the Hahn but ended up with my 636 instead.....

Either way i was sold a kit and was told my PCM was reflashed, If i have documented evidence that my PCM was never touched, and as a result directly cause my engine to fail i dont see WHY i cant do anything about it?

I refuse to sell my bike though.... I dunno what im gunna do. But for now im gunna order the rods/pistons and start tearin it down, ill prob need a new head as well......

Oh yea, i had a wideband but sold it to my brother before i even installed it lol, bought my bike and lost total interest in the car..... 108HP at the rear wheel is all i need when my ride only weighs 350-400 pounds

And im not gunna lie, that supercharger is the coolest sounding thing ever.... And the kit ITSELF isnt so bad, if it just would be oil tight and have a good tune. Im gunna have the pulley cut down a bit more by a friend and tune it.

Has to be the worst feeling to see someone's pride go down the tubes like that. It would be wise to get an HPTune.

As the others mentioned, hitting up RSM/ZSpec would be good, just to bitch at them and ruin their reputation even more. But it looks like it already took its toll on them. I live up here in the Toronto area and my company has a client that's two streets over from RSM/Zspec's shop. Well, they no longer exist. A stamp metal company now occupies the space - which I asked how they moved there. Apparently they bought the place from a bankruptcy sale, so RSM/Zspec, howver you want to call it, it no more. Good riddance to them.

Well i got good news!!

My parents will cover the cost of parts for me to rebuild... Which means...

Eagle rods and JE Pistons! w00t! However i have to pay them back.

Now is the real dillema.... I really want to go hahn, so im thinking about getting 8.5:1 or 9:1 Pistons.... But i wont have the cash for a while so ill be driving around with low comp pistons and NO boost. As im gunna remove the supercharger and sell it while the engine gets rebuilt.

I will also begetting cams when i rebuild... So it will be cammed with LC pistons and no boost until i get the turbo. How @!#$ty is it gunna run? Oh and i will have HPtuners to tune it as best as it will get until i do boost.

OR i can run 10:1 but then when i go turbo ill be screwed.... Because i;d like to get the 20g on there and run 15psi right away, thus the idea of building it Low Comp in anticipation for the future.

It will be nice to know the engine i have is built to handle 500hp, just doesnt do it yet.

i have that valvetrain minus the valves. stock valves are sufficent for a street car. aaron is a great guy to deal with. bought most of my internals from him. he also has pistons and rods of your interested.

Looks like ill be getting a Manifold, T04 Turbo, Saab intake manifold, FMIC, 36lb injecters, and wideband off my brother... Then i just need to get the oil lines and have piping fabbed up.

Hopefully everything will work out.... Ill definetly check out your page though for the internals... If the cylinder walls are fine though i think im going to keep stock bore. But 8.9-9:1 compression for sure

bore it , just to make sure the bores are straight

even just honing , with normal wera will in some case take you to .005 over , and youll end up with more blow by and poor ring seal

I dont want to push the motor all the way to its limit, but i think 350hp should be good

thats just fine. dont let some of the people on hear tell you other wise. they say hpt for everything under the sun. some of the fastest times on this site were achived with nothing more than an fmu and a safc.

Well i just ordered the rods/pistons/headbolts... Now i just gotta get a headgasket and yank the head off my car to see how bad it is.... Im hoping the valves are ok and i can get away with just replacing the head
