AFCO Heat Exchangers

I noticed there are quite a bit of people using Cobra heat exchangers for the S/C eco setups. I was wondering if anyone tried any aftermarket ones for the Cobra like these two posted...... (in link above too for more info)

Thought it might be a good idea seeing as how they are an improvement over the stock ones. Only thing I was wondering Is how exactly you mount these things. I'm assuming some custom brackets that would have to be welded to the heat exchanger.

Also one more question i might as well put in this post....

Does anyone know if the 2.0 Ecotec Valve cover will fit the 2.2 Ecotec?

i'm running one of those afco heat exchangers. i used a set of brackets that i bought from bwoodyperformance. they had to be modded slightly because the afco heat exchanger is twice as thick as the stock cobra heat exchanger.

I am running the middle one you posted up there. I bought it from Lightening Performance though, not from AFCO. I think I have the web site info at home and I could post it once I get home if needed?

Mounted it by welding brackets to the HE like you said and then added "L" brackets to the HE and bolted it all down to the front bumper support. Lots and lots of 90 degree elbows will be needed!!

Not sure on the 2.0 valve cover.

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

Most seem to be using the stock Cobra HE in tandem with the stock HE that is pressed between the A/C condenser and the radiator. I don't think an upgraded unit like the AFCO would really help that much unless the stock HE was removed and only the AFCO was used. That is what I plan on doing. Should allow better efficiency from the A/C Cond and the Radiator along with improved intake charge cooling...

I'm removing the entire A/C system so the condenser up front wont be an issue at all

and those brackets posted above will work great, thanks for the link

it will work on the 2.0 head though , lol

the 2.0 has the cam sensor on the exhaust cam where the 2.2 doesnt , so that corner of the head and cam cover are different

had one, still have one actually, from a Ford mustang......did the tigged brackets on, but I went horizontally instead of vertically, so that the unit was close to the rad so the fans would actually circulate the air when sitting at the track.....
