fuel regulator and FMU

Is there a difference between a fuel regulator and an FMU. I'm trying to piece together a 6 psi system to help me get around town just a little quicker. Also are waste gates adjustable for the psi they open for or do you buy a waste gate specifically for the psi you want. As far as charge pipes go, will an inter cooler kit off eBay include all the pipes I need to make a custom setup. Thanks.

And no, most wastegates that come on turbos are not adustable. The threaded rod, contrary to what people think, is not meant to regulate boost.

no, a ebay intercooler piping kit will not include everything you need. you will need custom work for your intercooler piping, and for your exhuast work.

a afpr (adjustable fuel pressure regulator) allows you to regulate the fuel pressure, this is to help tame bigger injectors at idle, some afpr's even have a 1:1 reference which means that per psi of boost it raises the fuel pressure forcing more fuel through the injectors. aeromotive makes nice ones. not all afpr's have a 1:1 reference.

a fmu add's fuel per psi just like the afpr's that have a 1:1 reference, but it can only raise fuel pressure, it can not lower it. it can also raise it by a lot more then 1:1, they have some that can do 12:1 which increase your fuel pressure by 12 per 1 psi of boost... this is why people ruin their stock fuel pumps and get a walbro 255l or 190l. they make sfmu which allows you to adjust the amount of fuel pressure changed per psi built up. i.e. 1:1 - 12:1

external tial wastegates (what i have) allow you to switch out springs to change the psi you want to run, also, you can run a boost controller on the vacuum line running to the wastegate and change it to be higher... u can only go as low boost as the spring in the wastegate. i dont kno about internal wastegates, but ima assume that shifted is right cause he is smart so listen to him if you are getting an internal one.
