His registry says he's got an 87 Sunbird GT. Isn't that a 2L turbo?
Could this question be related to that car?
Just going out on a limb here. I still don't know what 1.8T he might be talking about...
If you're talking about the OHC engine from the Gen I and II cars, then don't mind the young'uns here. They talk a whole lot even when they don't have a clue.
AFAIK, the 1.8 T head has a smaller chamber than the 2.0 head. The 2.0 head on the 1.8 will give low compression. Look through 1st gen forums and Darkmuck's lt3 site for more answers since I haven't looked into this one for years.
car-part.com is a great place to look for used parts.

Its pretty hard to find info about the early 2.0 OHC turbo, much less the uber-rare 1.8. I've only ever seen one.
The head will bolt right up because the blocks are pretty much the same. Some of the Euro versions actually use the same head between the 2.0 and 1.8 engines. You MAY end up with a different compression ratio changes but I can't 100% tell you for sure because there are different castings and different versions of the motor and I don't know much about the american 1.8 motors.
To all of those that immediately jumped on your nuts about VW engines...... ummm...... eat our 1st/2nd generation turbo buttholes.
