I'd like to know how is the gas mileage with the 2.4 charger with the Gm reflash. Do you still get the same mileage normal driving? Can you stay out of boost? How bad is it on gas when you are hard on it?
Is the charger reliable or not? I've seen a few post of broken parts but never really looked into it.
This would be for my 02 Z witch is my DD and I want it to be reliable and give good gas mileage out of boost. If I go in boost I know it will drink gas.
Any problem with the reflash? Any problem AFTER the reflash?
Forget about Hptuner, I won't mess with it. I would go with the kit and that's it. Maybe a wideband but that's it.

Do not use the gm reflash. Have it tuned using Hp tuners. I would say go for it. I was surprised you had not done this to your Z24 sooner. As far as the gas mine gets like 20 miles less on a full tank of gas then before with me constantly beating on it in the city. On the highway gas mileage was as good if not better then before.

gm reflash pulls a lot of timing according to a lot of sources on this website. but it's a good starting point if you ever wanna do some tuning.
As far as the kit and all the things that come with it. it's pretty solid and I had no issues with it for the longest time. I've even gone down a pulley size and still no issues.
my auto got 26 on my last 900mile trip
and dont listen to wade , he dont know jack crap
get the reflash done THEN tune it with hp , ive tweaked mine some , but mostly i bumped up the off boost timing alot , and its helped out my milage around town , the auto seams to bog little around town when trying to lightly accel
staying outta boost is easy , as long as you have a intake of some kind , cause you can hear the sound changed when you get closer to 0 on the vac/boost gauge , with out having to look at it
put the s/c on the cav and youll think your gtz is slow , lol
I could use Hp tuner and the Gm reflash file to tune the Sc but I don't want to. It's my DD so I don't want to screw around with the tuning and No my Z won't be faster than my Gtz. The Z has 4 spd with B&M (the rest is stock) and the Gtz has W41 hot grind 2 with 12:1 compression.
I want to keep the Z with the best mileage as possible. Getting on it once in a while is ok but otherwise I try to keep the mileage good.

you scratch my ride IMA EAT YO CHILDREN
well just get the charger and the GM reflsh and you should be set. it's worry free almost. The Reflash is fine for the charger, no further tuning required.
and yeah Expect somewhere from 25 to 32 mpg. I get around that on long trips.
well my cav has ran a untuned best of 14.38 @ 95 , so unless your gtz runs 13's , itll give it a run for its money
i do recomend a wide band , adj fpr and prob 36lb injectors
mine ran low 13's for afr under full throttle with the 30lb
and HP will help alot for off boost drivability , i was prob under 20mpg around town and closer to mid 20's now
ive got a header back exhaust , 59mm tb , 3" home made intake , filter in the bumper out of the under hood air , and alky injection which isnt used around town much
ive got no problem driving the car any where at anytime , its been a really good set up
5spd not 4spd? Mine's an auto so it won't be that fast. I will keep everything else stock. There's only 2 things that are not stock on my Z, the Rk lip and the B&M shift plus.
I have the boost gauge from when I turboed my Gtz and I have a wideband waiting for me at my friend house.
When does it make boost? As soon as you punch it or does it take 500-1000rpm before making boost?
I'm getting 30-32mpg in town during summer so I'd like to stay around there. I get about 28 during winter time.

running a roots charger by nature is goign to hurt some gas mileage since its an added load, if you have the ability to run the 2000+PCM in your car do it and you can HP tune it and with some tuning you might be able to get alot of the gas mileage back

1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
dude my cav is auto trans , its not a 5spd , i went from a 16.0 @ 85 to a best of 14.38 @ 95 , and that was forcing the car to bogg off the line
and dont you mean liters not gallons

my milage hasnt droped but maybe 30-40 miles to a tank if i drive it hard , 20-30 on normal driving
trust me its worth getting
Matt - that's what I was thinking. I just wanted to know from people who have it. My Z is an 02 so I will get the reflash.
TRD - Okay, it's better than what I tought. And I mean gallon

I didn't hit the track with the Z and I won't but it's better than what my Gtz ran. A nice kick for what it cost. I don't want 13's, just more power than what is has now.

I sent a stock ecu from an 01 base model 2.2OHV to Shifted. He then installed a tweaked versoin of the gm reflash. There is no need to pay to get the reflash and then pay to get it tuned with hp tuners. Plus it was cheaper then getting the GM reflash.
Trust me there is an advantage to having it tuned with HP tuners. I think I gained about 15whp more just from it being tuned with hp tuners.

Like I said, I will get the reflash and that's it. It'd my DD, not my race car. I got a Gtz with a built engine to race. Trust me, If I wanted to get every Hp out of the 2.4, I would already had. I just want something from the company that I can trust and that I don't have to f*** with all the time.

friend of mine hated it when my auto cav sedan beat his gtz , lol
the kit will give you lots of trouble free enjoyment
having done mine , GM shoulda just sold them as s/c'd from the factory
you will have no issues with the gm s/c, trust me. not sure where are getting your info from about broken parts.
for a nice kick in your daily drive, not much $ invested, awesome designed s/c kit, hassle free boost for years to come, the GM s/c fits them criterias and then some.
That's what I want. A nice kit that put on and forget about it.

Tell me if this sounds right.
Iv never realy checked what im getting for gass mileage but i drive from Cape Breton Nova Scotia to Halifax Nova Scotia its a 500km Drive and with a realy filled tank i only burn maybe 1 or 2 points over half a tank with my sunflower. I run Cruse from the time i hit the trans Canada witch is 200km into the drive. I drive on avg 120 (but since i got my radar detector, lets just say, the trip is not as long) does this seem right or am i just getting great gass mileage?
Ill be making this trip today (i hate driving 500kms its a long pain in my cars suspension.)
It's good mileage. That's close to what I do on highway.

I got 36 interstate. the only issue that i had was the idler. the bearing broke out of it, i fixed this by buying a bearing that was as large (OD) and the same ID as the stock unit. fixed.
89K and that was beating the hell out of it.
awsome kit.

ok, so in my experience in my 01 auto Z.......
i get the same, if not
slightly better gas mileage. crazy eh?
i average about 20 mpg city (a/c on), and about 30 mpg highway (80 mph 3k rpm). for a little more kick in the pants, you cannot beat the reliability/easiness of it hands down. also, boost for me is instant. you can tell when you get into boost too, depends on how far you press the pedal and when. i can ease the pedal to a certain point where i can rev to 4k rpm if i want to in my auto before it shifts without getting into boost.

^ really good to know. My Z rarely shift at 4000rpm. I try to keep it under 4k.
I really want it now. Anyone wanna buy a build Gtz or change with an Sc kit?
