Supercharger crash course?

I was wonding if any one could answer some of the questions im looking for thats semi hard to find as of right now. I dont have alot of time to site at a computer around this time of year due to school and work so please help me out! and if not well i guess it wont be the first time.

I have a 2002 cavaleir with the 2.2 ecotec and looking into the GM supercherger some by B-day in July.

Looking to find out these questions...

It takes on average of 6-8 hours (so ive read) to do this addition onto the engine, and it will on average supply 170 whp in a 5spd. Will i be able to get a 2.8" pully and stull be able to keep stock pistons?

If i wanted to go 2.7" pully would i need more like a 8.9:1 compression forged pistons?

How well will a 2.8" pully go up against 7,500 RPM's?

I've read that polishing the outer casing redused the air temp... True or not?

Intercoolers/heat exchangers whats out there that people are using?

How does a heat exchanger work exactly?

Do i need a fuel pump, FPR and larger injectors to be able to hit a 300hp mark?

Does the kit come with a FPR or is it all changed up from the GM reflash?

What kind of injector is larger then the S/C kit injectors?

Alk. injection ... Were to buy? is this kind of like a Nitrous "drip" that sprays in Alk to cool the air temp after the compression of the rotors?

Anything else i might need to know like things i should look out for when doing this?

Things to possibly be able to help you all out with what i have planed for it is when I get the kit me and my dad will build a full 2.5" exhaust from header back, get a pacesetter, wide band 02 sensor, and possibly hptuners with or shortly after.

True as far as I know. Ask these guys. http://www.stiegemeier.com/index.html

Intercoolers/heat exchangers whats out there that people are using?
Heat exchangers is what most are using.

How does a heat exchanger work exactly?
Pretty much like an intercooler.

Do i need a fuel pump, FPR and larger injectors to be able to hit a 300hp mark?
Fuel pump, forged pistons, forged connecting rods, larger injectors and HP Tuners

Does the kit come with a FPR or is it all changed up from the GM reflash?
There is no FPR with the kit. The reflash tells the injectors to stay open longer. By the way the GM reflash sucks. Hp tuners is the way to go.

What kind of injector is larger then the S/C kit injectors?
I am not sure what size injectors the ecotec kit comes with to know what injectors are bigger.

Alk. injection ... Were to buy? is this kind of like a Nitrous "drip" that sprays in Alk to cool the air temp after the compression of the rotors?
http://www.enginerunup.com/ http://www.coolingmist.com/ Nothing to do with nitrous. It is a high presure water mix injected right before the throttle body. It is mainly to cool the supercharger. A cool supercharger forces cooler air into the engine. It also helps resist detonation damage, and timing retard.
Anything else i might need to know like things i should look out for when doing this?
It would be alot cheaper if you just paid someone to tune it with HPtuners. If you want to do it yourself you have alot still to learn about how tune it properly.

Things to possibly be able to help you all out with what i have planed for it is when I get the kit me and my dad will build a full 2.5" exhaust from header back, get a pacesetter, wide band 02 sensor, and possibly hptuners with or shortly after.

You can have the 2.8" pulley for a few miles...no more, rods will snap.

If i wanted to go 2.7" pully would i need more like a 8.9:1 compression forged pistons?
No, you want to keep your out of boost torque, stay 10:1 compression or increase if you're brave. Beware of hotspots in the head though, cooling would really become an issue, staying 10:1 is easiest.

How well will a 2.8" pully go up against 7,500 RPM's?
Forged internals, good tune, the engine would survive. I can't remember what the blower redline is...18k maybe you may be overspinning it, it'll get hot and lose even more efficiency. It's not worth it to spin it that fast.

I've read that polishing the outer casing redused the air temp... True or not?
True, also have the blower rotors ported and polished to help.

Intercoolers/heat exchangers whats out there that people are using?
http://www.ecotecforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=726 Read through that, it has a lot of info about intercooling.

How does a heat exchanger work exactly?
Exactly like your car's radiator.

Do i need a fuel pump, FPR and larger injectors to be able to hit a 300hp mark?
If you tune it with HPTuners....you won't need the FPR,, you will need at least 42lb injectors for the 300 mark. Probably a better flowing fuel pump as well.

Does the kit come with a FPR or is it all changed up from the GM reflash?
You use the stock FPR, the GM reflash changes what's necessary.

What kind of injector is larger then the S/C kit injectors?
The kid comes with 36lb injectors, you'll need Lucas 42lb injectors, I think.

Alk. injection ... Were to buy? is this kind of like a Nitrous "drip" that sprays in Alk to cool the air temp after the compression of the rotors?
Create your own kit, devilsown, coolingmist, there are a couple others out there.

Anything else i might need to know like things i should look out for when doing this?

IAT temps, don't just add lbs of boost without making sure it's safe.

Things to possibly be able to help you all out with what i have planed for it is when I get the kit me and my dad will build a full 2.5" exhaust from header back, get a pacesetter, wide band 02 sensor, and possibly hptuners with or shortly after.

Read up on tuning boost with HPTuners...Gm sorta screws us over with their freaking S/C tune. Definately Wideband 02 Gauge.

Feel free to pm me.

Ok that helped ALOT!!!

Thank you very much.

One more thing!

For the heat exchanger, is that a air to water intercooler?

Just want to make sure i got this all...
Starting from the waterpump the pressure side goes to the heat exchanger were it gets cooled by the air then it goes to the intercooler core which is with in the M62 supercharger im going to be getting then back to the tank or the pump?

So to run an effective boost i will need the GM supercharger kit, a new electronic waterpump, heat exchanger/air to water intercooler, a fill tank along with a cap, and lines?

I think I can handle this project, might not take the 6-9 hour period that people say, but hey I want to do my own @!#$ lol

now how about a WI J-tuners discount on the Team Green LSD Insert? I'll write out a check right now for $125 for it shipped to my house lol
Also you have a PM Monkey

You can't compare install times between the Eco and the LD9, they're just too different due to there being much more involved on the M62.

shoot me a PM or email about the LSD insert. Everyone who's replied to your questions have done a pretty good job of covering everything else.

If you do decide to inlist our services for installing anything, make sure you get ahold of one of us.

like?

The aftercooler? yes, that’s all I can see. - but the kit doesn’t come with it, its there and just needs a pump, lines, reservoir, and heat exchanger.

I looked up the straight time here at work, 6 hours. And that’s with the down load VCM cal. and the Flashing of the PCM\VCM.

this is the eco charger, not the 2.4, so you,re looking at around 200 whp with the stock kit, not 170 whp liek the 2.4 kit...

WTF, we are talking about installing it,

But I guess you have done both right?

If it makes so much more power, why is my time faster than yours, with less boost?
