does anybody know where i can get a good turbo kit for the 3.4 V6 out of an Alero
This should have been posted in the boost forum but...
I'm guessing you're going to have to go custom if you want a turbo setup. I did a real quick search and didn't find a whole lot, but a more extensive search might find something. Either way, if the engine is going to be in a Cavalier, it'll probably have to be a custom job. Personally, I'd save a bunch of fabrication headaches and go with a remote mount. There's a guy that put a remote on a 3.1 Cavalier and it worked pretty well. do a search for him and check it out, it'd give you an idea of what you need to do to make it work.
go to www.turbobygarrett.com and look up turbo kits for the Grand Am.
I dont remember the place that comes up, but SUPPOSEDLY they make one, but they're currently 'redesigning the kit' or whatever their site says. It looked pretty nice though.
thanks i'll look into it just so you know i'm taking the 3.4 out of an Alero, they had less problems than the grand am

I have the site bookmarked at home... but that's the case, its being redesigned.
Main thing I'm not sure about is the clearance between the custom front header and cooling fan.
I'll post a couple links tonight.
go custom, ive heard of people getting 300whp from 8psi.
I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

ROFL, you're gonna be in for a suprise then. It's the exact same engine. So, it's gonna have all the same problems.

They're all made in the same factory right next to each other. Just, put in a different shell.
Change your intake gaskets before using. I also suggest flushing the piss out of the engine when before you add coolant, and get rid of all the Dexcool.

The guys on V6z24.com are just having the crossover pipe modified. Not sure what they do with the rear manifold though.

Best I've seen is 358fwhp on 10psi. It's going to depend on your tune.

Probably a 3.1 rear manifold...

Yeah uh the 3.4 out of the alero is the same as a grand am. They all have @!#$ty gaskets for the intake mani. There is at least one 3100 or 3400 in my shop a week for intake gaskets alero grand am and every other car they use that motor in. If your gonna do a swap to a big motor why not do a 3800 supercharged thats actually meant for boost then you can actually have alot of options as far as tuning and upgrades. Just an opinion i suppose but if i was to swap to v6 the only one i would consider is the 3800 its worth the extra money. Unless your doing it for a convenience factor id ditch the 3400 idea. Oh and gm is pretty slow they made gaskets for the 3100 and 3400 that are dissolved by the dexcool coolant. If your looking for good gaskets go with felpro if your looking to use dexcool still they have redesigned materials for there gaskets. Im thinking you would be better off with an eco swap and turbo it. i mean 358whp is nice but at what cost of weight and headache. But your profile contains nothing about your vehicle so just throwing ideas out there.
