Ok. Now, I am just concerned on dimensions and port size, ect. The worst part in my opinion...

have you decided wether your staying with the audiobahns or replacing, doesnt make sence to build a wall enclosure with the audiobahns if you plan on replacing them, because once you replace them your building all new boxes most likely.

and a tip. make sure you secure those boxes well. get in a wreck and some cheap ass L brackets may just snap off then you have a 100lb box coming at your head.

i use this one for figuring out how much port to use, it gives you a minimum port area so you dont have port noise. but if you kurf (spelling?) the port then youll have no issues with port noise anyways.

Well, I am going to wall the audiobahns. Later one eventually I might wall 4 of those soundstreams...but it would be awhile. Ill figure out some way to mount..do you think the box dimensions I came up with earlier would work? It said it would be a 34.9HZ frequency with those dimensions and port size...im just really not sure on enclosure size....thats where I get lost, like I said. As soon as I saw it was close to a mid 30s HZ rating, I got excieted lol

aparently my link didnt work, but its this one.

link

just type in the xmax and amount of woofers, and it will give you a minimum port area. i like to stay within 10-20% of that number.

GAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Once you're done listening to Anton, spending money, and realising that everything sounds like crap, talk to me or Jason. Thanks

i honestly dont see whats wrong with using that calculator to figure out port area. if the sub and push the air then let it push it.

and im pretty sure my designs work very well... dont be so stubborn and try out a different way once in a while.

k ima need your usable height from that pedestal you were tallking about to the ceiling, also your usable width, ill design you a box, you can take it or leave it. but im need some info, if i remember correctly the back seat of a cavlier can fit a 4 foot long piece of MDF perfectly. but i would like you to get some measurements.

and im going to tune to 32 hz.

Alright, sweet. Thanks. Ill take some measurements probably tomarrow night and post them. Will 32HZ be a good frequency to tune to you think??

i think so, its best for music, it will also get loud. are you planning on competing? if you are i would figure out where you peak at then tune about 3 hz lower than that. like i peak at 47 hz so if i where to build a burp box, i would tune to around 44-45 hz. but im assuming yur using this for daily right?

Mostly daily, but would like it to keep up or come somewhere in the ballpark of the 9500s in a burp. I know im not going to get real close to them probably but if I can maximize what I have I think I will be happy...for now lol..so I guess kind of a mix in the middle.

J's peak 7-9 above tuning freq. I peak at 41 hz. My box is tuned at 33 hz.

If you tune 35 hz you have a natural peak at 45 hz. It will get loud there along with 7-9 hz above freq. And yull also have a nice slow natural roll off. Instead of a quick drop.

yea but a walled cavalier might peak at a different hz than a trunked cavalier, it might just peak like a single cab truck and be at say 36 hz or so.

Well it depends on the size. I dont see Audiobahn twelves burping 36 hz very well.

Sorry, havent had any time to measure...been working on a friends car for a car show this weekend....turned out just like every weekend...working from 6PM friday afternoon until 12PM the day of the car show and the show starts at 1PM....the way it always happens with his car lol, but I will be getting measurements ASAP..gatta dig the tape measure out..

Ok, measured today, I have 51" wide (Side to side), 22" depth, and about 33" till the roof (tall)

Ok, talked to one of my friends yesterday and he came with a meter and tested out a few things. He said my interior resonates way higher than the 32HZ I was going to tune to...he said I am going to need to tune to AT LEAST 55HZ. He said most music you listen to anyway is between the 50-60HZ range.....just wondering if what hes saying is right...He said with the right port, I could hit somewhere around low 150DBs, or high 140s....I know he knows his boxes...he ran a shop here in town for about 8 years...he made some badass boxes for some friends....he said in an old S10 he had 6 RFL 15s in the bed of it, and was hitting 168DB, and he had those tuned to 70HZ, and the resonance was 72HZ....he said in my car between the 50-60HZ range, it would be the best, considering that most music is played at about that frequency....he also had a design so that I can change my port to change my frequency without building a whole new box.....

Basically I guess my question is....whats you opinion of tuning it to that frequency??

horrible idea, IMO. how often will you be competing? and i think most of the j-bodies peak around 40-47 hz.

but having a port that adjusts the tuning is a great idea.

Re: What would be louder??

When he ran the test he said what cam out, I will need at to tune to at least 50HZ. Thats including the interior being glassed, cloth racing seats, ect. ect. He said all that will effect the sound resonance. I dunno...he did the metering, not sure exactly what the meter read....but hes built some bad ass boxes before....not trying to dog on your box desighn, but he said with it ported at 32HZ, it wouldnt be as loud normal playing, as most music is between the 50-60HZ range...and he said anything below 32HZ the human ear cannot hear, so it was pretty low to drop....

As for the port idea....he also has a deisghn that uses an actuator and switch so that i can actually adjust my frequency with a switch whenever I want to....kinda cool concept he came up with....

As for its use, not really competition, more day to day but accasional comps. not very often at all. I just want to be able to keep up with my friends 9500s if were at a car show, i mean, not DB reading keeping up, just loudness, like if i go to my car then go to his not notice much of a difference in how loud it is...

Tuned to 50hz for daily, wow.

Re: What would be louder??

Wow is right.

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.

I am just going by what he told me.....what would you guys recommend?? Anton came up with a design for 32HZ...what shawn (The guy that suggested 50HZ) said was that 32HZ wouldnt be good for daily because of what my car resonates at, and the ported enclosure tuned to 32HZ is only goot to within 3-4HZ above and below what the port is tuned to...if I understood him right...
